Yet we have forced GPS fencing and loads of tracking on e-scooters, which kill far fewer people. It's sick.

The 12yo can get a Zip Oyster if you buy ahead, or an Oyster smartcard with "Young Visitor" discount set for two weeks at a time, but it's often a pain in the neck to visit one of the 16 stations with a #TfL office or centre to set it, and it takes a while to outweigh the £10 charge for a new #Oyster card. It really should be simpler.

They sell both the #Paris cardboard #Navigo preloaded with 2 metro trips at cost plus about €2 fee, and #London plastic Visitor #Oyster cards at what seems to be a usual high fee of £10.50. They really should put this on the announcements more clearly but I wonder if they couldn't cope with how many people would want to avoid the awful ticket offices in both cities!

Does the possibility of being able to charge tourists who fall foul of this penalty fares of £50-100+ or out-of-court settlements of £150+ give the train operators too much incentive to make the signs as small as they are allowed to?
