@rahmstorf@fediscience.org 🤯 We will not have to go to Mars, all we need to do is wait two decades and Mars will come to us!

@LaChasseuse@mastodon.scot 😆 Maybe someone should point out to him that Sparta is long gone, for extremely good reasons. Time to upgrade.

@petewalkden@mastodon.scot Hee Haw!

@gleick Israel got away with bombing Palestinian hospitals, claiming they were Palestinian terrorist hotspots. So...???

@grant_h@mastodon.social @mensrea@freeradical.zone @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange @png@yap.pony.biz Similar with an older sister. My first introduction to the ornamental multicolored chillies that I was promised was a "sweetie bush". Thanks to her I prefer research to taking someone's word.

@Sustainable2050@mastodon.energy Shh! Most likely the only reason they have not completely succeeded in dividing Africa forever is because of maps like that.

@josbuurmans@mastodon.social Beautiful!

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social Just sad to watch someone develop a deep and meaningful relationship with the person in the mirror. Guess it makes for a stress-free relationship especially for those who aren't really successful at the whole thing.

@_nibbles@mastodon.social @0x00string@infosec.exchange @troed@swecyb.com A picture of "The Ironbank" jumps unbidden into my mind.

@jasongorman@mastodon.cloud Definitely! The current state of game development is a stunning example. I used to gasp at a little flaw. Now? You go through 10 games and find one that is maybe 50% OK. Complain and the devs blame your hardware that wasn't bought 5min. ago.

@uastronomer@mastodon.monoceros.co.za Let's take a moment: 🤯 that is more than a third of the country! So, no hope in H for someone my age to get something, anything so I'm able to afford my municipal rates. How the devil did we get here? I feel like all I've been doing the last 40 yrs is fight and slog against rather unfair odds.

@julieofthespirits@kolektiva.social @jake2@kolektiva.social When I finally got hold of a copy, (had to read every book banned by my school for personal reasons), it was such a let-down. Written by someone whom I found quite "uncomplicated" if I'm being super kind. Could have been any privileged late teen's "manifesto", angst and all.

@atrupar I get it! Trump is a frustrated interior decorator.

@tessa_murray Totally agree! Animals in their natural habitats are so much better. Leopards are solitary and prefer to hide.

@gedeonm@mastodon.social Oh man! Precisely what the world needs now! A moment of clarity and feelings of... well, feelings then.

@junglegeorge@mastodon.africa @uastronomer@mastodon.monoceros.co.za 🤣 Its like American shooting, you wildly shoot 100 bullets in the general direction and sometimes you get a hit...

@quidcumque It can be as simple and cutting as getting "the look" when offering to help doing a job normally associated with the boys.

@junglegeorge@mastodon.africa If everything else fails there is always rhythm and style. 😆

@metaphase Yes, that would be the way if I was living anywhere other than Cape Town, South Africa. Land has become a weapon in many different little wars, some political, most purely for greed. Even if you own land, water is not exactly affordable other than for daily drinking and cooking food. My statement about golf courses was mostly a way to get my own dagger in at my ex-boss, an avid golfer and retrencher of elderly staff.

@metaphase Would love to see golf course forest/farm projects next!

@leepetersen If that bird stared at me like that I would apologize, profusely. Amazing photo!

@mensrea@freeradical.zone Not racist so much as having an innate sense of superiority, however undeserved and, of course, loving their comfort, which needs slaves and resources. Since the world now frown on the former they are focusing on the latter and beating up the former when/wherever they are able. The trick is for Africa and the rest of the former slave colonies to stop acting like slaves, siding with these former and wannabe empires in the hopes of scraps falling from the table.

@mongabay Lula was supposed to be the good guy?

@antopatriarca@mathstodon.xyz @jasongorman@mastodon.cloud Oh dear! We're stuffed then, aren't we? Gone are the days of going to the Moon with a PC running DOS.

@petergleick@fediscience.org They make more money investing in oil since oil companies have zero expenses when it comes to environmental protection and oil production is subsidized with tax money?

@StompyRobot@mastodon.gamedev.place @addressforbots@social.apcn.nz @cstross@wandering.shop @dryak@mstdn.science @whybird@aus.social It is a choice, being a cog in a machine or the machine, or the operator... all part of the same inhuman mess of abuse and use. Being human is not specialization but adaptation to new scenarios, using every faculty to learn and use whatever skills necessary and choosing not to harm and to cooperate with likeminded individuals, or not.

@leepetersen@alaskan.social Everything about that photo works. I love it!

@leepetersen@alaskan.social Awesome! Makes a really peaceful desktop background.

@mensrea@freeradical.zone Not enough resources to consider to invade. If they had oil, lithium, gas, etc. it would already be a done deal. The US under the orange emperor is only interested in strengthening its empire, nothing else, not even its own people whom Trump considers a consumable.

@StompyRobot@mastodon.gamedev.place @addressforbots@social.apcn.nz @cstross@wandering.shop @dryak@mstdn.science @whybird@aus.social Yes on both. Drove a '73 Series Landy so... The paper was a hobby for a while, mostly because I got annoyed with junk mail piling up.

@julieofthespirits@kolektiva.social I'm afraid I lived through a family like that and never, ever want to hear their side ever again. Thank goodness they forgot I existed fairly early on and left me in the care of my black nanny who taught me how to be human and think for myself.

@clarity@xoxo.zone Yes, quite, the whole reason for the innocent, yet in-your-face phrase "a gentleman of leisure".

@mk30@tilde.zone The irony is that whether that 'copter is in Vietnam or on a farm, it is probably spraying the same herbicide with two different names, depending on friendly or war use. and few appear to have a problem eating that.

@matdevdug@c.im I so don't miss rewinding unspooled tapes. It got old right from the first incident.

@mWare@ottawa.place 😆
