@seuros@mastodon.bsd.cafe Audio person with a firewire i7 laptop here, appreciating this. I have been wanting to move my old i7 gen3 laptop off windows, but it has the Texas Instruments FW chipset, which is the gold standard for audio. I've done 16 channels for 8 solid hours without losing a bit. Thank you!

When a chemical has this sort of impact on people, it gets put on lists only allowing very narrow uses.

A key cutting machine in a shop along Koeberg Road.

The sparkle of the old keys and filings caught my eye. I'm not sure the photo captures what I thought I saw.

#education #counsellors #privacy It seems that just less than half the #school counsellors here have end-to-end encryption of their client's data. And 1/7 feel that it doesn't need encrypting. I would have expected the fediverse stats to be more privacy conscious. I think there is work to be done.

RE: @grant_h@mastodon.social

I have created a secure @liberaforms@fosstodon.org form to source data from a couple of educational email lists I'm part of. If anyone wants to forward that link to people who might be willing to fill it in, that would be great. It is very similar to this poll, with one more option, and a free form field.

#Higraph progress!

Still got lots to do, but hyperEdges can now be saved & loaded in modified #graphml files. The "model tree" on the left highlights items in the graph on the right.
I can see "minimum viable product"!

The #hyperedge structure is both graphically and algebraically accessible. I'm not aware of anything else that does this, pretty certainly not in #Python

@delegatevoid@mastodon.gamedev.place @crocodisle@woof.tech Joplin and webdav play nicely. I've used it for years. Joplin does maintain some sort of pointers-to-files with metadata internally, but the files are md, and images are external. I needed to test encryption, so I have the world's most private and secure shopping lists, but they are unreadable outside of Joplin.

@brianb@fosstodon.org I can recommend a #Moodle server for this sort of thing (not the competitive on screen stuff, but for mcq assessment) . You can import questions from text files (I use GIFT). It has really nice stats. You could run a server in a vm on a laptop, if your school's IT cant host it.

@sonjaschuh01@academiccloud.social @meganmariehart@mastodon.social something I discovered is that if you post a link to an image, hit count on the image gives you an idea of views. I post my photos that way, and it seems to track. The same principle as "pixel trackers" in email. If you use a unique link for the post, to say a poster for the event, I don't see a problem with that.

Helping a school counsellor set up some issue reporting forms.
@liberaforms@fosstodon.org has the smoothest, safest, implementation for setting up public/ private keypairs I have used. With a great verification step! A backup is not tested until you have restored it!

@MrBerard@mastodon.acm.org Yes. The trick is to _never_ use a mutable as a default, unless you're in the business of memoising something. That's the gotcha - the default at-load evaluation is not what I think most programmers expect.
