This esteemed colleague totally doesn't have any biases, a list:
- says female candidate couldn't answer technical questions, claims to have notes confirming this
- can't give any examples of an unanswered questions when pressed
- admits female candidate gave the better presentation, adds she must've had social skills training
- says female candidate doesn't have technical research focus, ignores male candidate's focus on very similar topics
Nothing to see here!!!
When I say the Lord's Prayer these days, "and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" get to me the most.
Because I feel tempted. Tempted to stop caring, protesting and helping; tempted to stop looking beyond my comfortable life. Tempted to stop hoping, to close my heart.
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good," says St Paul (Romans 12:21). It isn't easy. But I don't have to do it alone: thinking I must is also a temptation.
K2: I want cucumber

Talked about the Beatitudes yesterday. Today, I read Matthew 5 and sat with my discomfort.
My discomfort because I'm not perfect.
My discomfort concerning martyrdom.
My discomfort regarding the word "meek".
I try to shift the focus away from me. Blessings and joy to those who manage to be meek, who love their enemies, who turn the other cheek.
Blessings and joy to those who are merciful and persecuted for it, who are meek and work for righteousness.
