Best thing I've read this week:
The internet is a store but it used to be a library.
(And sadly it is now turning into a sewer or graveyard... thanks capitalism!) 🧟

Ah, just found out that this is #Frazetta art because of course. Originally a cover for Burroughs’ "The Outlaw of Torn" (1973 edition), I doubt this one was officially licensed because the SSI logo is right across his signature! 😆

@clickhere@mastodon.ie @mullvadnet@mastodon.online @lostgen@det.social And from where did Mullvad get all the money to run those UK campaigns? I don't think they're as small and scrappy as they profile themselves as. Anyway, blocked and will keep an eye out for other VPN providers.

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu oh, right... this you just a few days ago?
Just admit that you expect climate breakdown induced food shortages to incite widespread mass protests and you need fascist aligned surveillance tools to control the populations when that happens, all because you weakened environmental protection rules to placate corporations owned by the billionaire class so you could meet short term cancerous economic growth demands!

@ScottishGreens also, all of those homes and yachts are stolen/unpaid wages. What a thing to brag about as a politician! Corporations are dictatorships, but Scotland isn't yet, but of course that knob hopes to change that. He was a dictator in his last job and hopes to become one again.
Replying to
@grrlscientist ask any politician how much money it would take for them to perform any of those jobs year in and year out. That's probably the real wage those jobs should have. (Then ask any of those workers how much money it would take for them to perform the job of a politician or business man and that's probably the real wage paper pushers should have too.)

@samir I will never understand why we looked at art and doing laundry... and decided to automate the art leaving us having to do a lot more more laundry.
Was just reminded that the home console version of Outrun 2006 is 20 years old this year (although I'm playing the arcade version below), and still no game released since then has managed to improve on the gameplay! 😎
Also, it's now been as long since Outrun 2006 was released as the time between it and the original Outrun's release, so where is Outrun 3? 😭

Btw, this is just the links I had favourited from my Mastodon feed in the last year... 😅 it took me three days to scroll back that far and then I had to stop, so if you know of an important older article I missed, please let me know.

@EUCommission there's large scale lithium upcycling facilities within the EU which don't rely on temporary grants?

@miona@toot.lgbt I noticed an electronic artist I liked named #Bluetech started using AI generated album covers two years ago and e-mailed them about it, and they said that not only were they using it, they were teaching other artists to do the same and would continue doing so despite me voicing ethical concerns. Maybe that doesn't count, though?
Replying to
@samir it was a common saying when the first wave hit artists... I just wanted to make a comment about coders being a bit late to the party being affected. 😉

@aral @Niall maybe because Britain instigated Zionism as far back as the 1800s, possibly at first just to bolster their textile industry?

@raven667 @alice @lunareclipse @chirpbirb that article read weird to me. Are they saying that all corporations sinking billions into Linux are benevolent? As if the corruption of Mozilla by Google’s money never happened?
Replying to
@foone@digipres.club it used to be the iPad Pro with the pencil (even though I was used to Cintiqs already) because they just completely nailed the feeling (and Procreate is the greatest piece of software in decades), but now it's moving from a combustion engine to an EV with one pedal driving. Only too bad they're mobile surveillance units (though some found ways of shutting that down, hopefully more hacks will appear in the future).

@HailsandAles@metalhead.club Oh, couldn’t data centers be cooled with the blood of the billionaires, since they seem to be pretty cold blooded? It could be like in Omelas, one billionaire in a hole below each data center, that nobody is allowed to look at or pity.

@danie10@mastodon.social is this by the original developer of Little Snitch for the Mac, or did someone just swipe the name?
Two seemingly high profile #documentary movies recently dropped in full on #Youtube (both about the #environment and man made #ClimateChange backed by famous actors). Is this a new trend to try to get younger people to watch documentaries? 🌍️
