FUTO keyboard is an excellent alternative with good theming and better text prediction due to local language model inclusion. Its source code is fully open, but not free to re-use for commercial purposes. It is therefore in Google Play Store and not F-Droid.

I cut $800 in subscriptions by running free tools on hardware I already owned

My First Meanderings With My Own Locally Hosted AI Tools

This is by no means any form of detailed tutorial, but I did pick up a few things about locally hosted AI while I’ve been testing the last few days, so I thought I’d share some of what I’ve picked up.

@adingbatponder@fosstodon.org you are correct, but I suppose in this case it is a well known dev from the Apple ecosystem. The backend he uses to hook into the kernel is open source (and same as OpenSnitch and others use). It is really his front end GUI and algorithms that he does not want to open up (yet as he says).

@batworx@mastodon.africa can't recall out of my head but I think it is GBoard that has a floating keyboard mode where you can move it around the screen. It is a button yes that activates it. May be able to hold and drag it to the bottom so it snaps back into place.

@Daniel_Blake@mastodon.top yes good point. Obviously one could download the attachment, but the mail is being viewed. I suppose it would depend also on the nature of how that attachment was supposed to activate.
