My name is Layan. In my family, they call me a daughter, a sister, a provider, and a pillar of strength. But beneath this armor of resilience, there is a child—a child who is simply tired of playing the role of an adult. 🥺
They call me the "healer of hearts" in the remnants of a home where the walls are weary and the air is heavy with insecurity. I spend my days trying to breathe life into my parents' exhausted spirits, and I guard the fragile innocence of my little brother, who is desperately trying to play in the shadow of this ordeal. I carry their worries, I bottle up their fears, and I offer them smiles that feel like shards of glass. 💔
But who carries me? 😟
In the quiet of the night, I grieve for the girl I was supposed to be. I ache for the simplicity of childhood; for the luxury of being hungry only for food, not for safety; for the freedom to laugh without guilt; and for the right to dream without the crushing weight of tomorrow. I am a child who has lived a lifetime of genocide and has yet to survive it. 😭
My childhood was stolen, not by time, but by a genocide that no child should ever have to witness. My heart is full of love for my family, but it is also heavy with a silence that asks: How much can one heart hold before it breaks? ❤️🩹
I am not asking for pity. I am asking to be seen. I am asking you to remember that I am a soul longing for the simple human right to live, to pursue my dreams, and to exist without the constant fear of tomorrow.
Every act of kindness from you matters deeply and means the world to us🙏🍉 https://chuffed.org/project/177144
