🎯 We will be migrating to a new server because https://toot.community will be shutting down. We are considering hosting our own instance (seems like overkill) or moving to https://mastodon.nl Does anyone have a good suggestion for other options? And FYI - If you have an account there and haven't yet migrated to a new server, don't procrastinate. https://social.jorijn.com/@jorijn/statuses/01KYN00AP3NCZXCFB96KQB8GN2

Where your data lives matters. We've moved our Bluesky account to a European Personal Data Server hosted by Eurosky. Same profile, same content, different infrastructure. "Lock the web open."

That was Brewster Kahle's message at DWeb Camp 2026 in Berlin. An open web isn't a given, it has to be built, protected, and sustained.

Our latest blog reflects on why that matters for digital preservation and the future of online memory.

Lock the Web Open: Inside DWeb Camp 2026 - Internet Archive Europe

Last week, in an ancient forest an hour outside Berlin, more than 500 builders, researchers, archivists, and artists gathered to ask the same question in a hundred different ways: how do we build a web that cannot be switched off, sold, or shut down. Internet Archive Europe helped bring it there. Ten Years On, First

Wikipedia turned 25 this year, and Wikimania came to Paris to mark it. Maps are infrastructure too.

At a recent Internet Archive Europe workshop, we explored how OpenStreetMap and MapLibre are building open, community-governed alternatives to proprietary mapping platforms.

Who decides what stays visible, preserved, and accessible?

Not all infrastructure looks like a server room. Some of it looks like a map. On 19 May, Internet Archive Europe hosted a workshop at our Amsterdam space with Bart Louwers, one of the core maintainers of MapLibre, and Tommi Marmo, OpenStreetMap contributor. The conversation moved between the technical and the political in a way

A copyright exception you can't use isn't really an exception.

That's the core of our input to the EU copyright review: close the gap between what the law lets libraries and archives do and what they can do in practice.

Around 90% of Renaissance Latin has never been translated into a modern language. Source Library is helping change that, making thousands of historical works accessible to readers worldwide.

Ninety percent of Renaissance Latin has never been translated into a modern language. More Latin was written after 1500 than survives from all of ancient Rome, and almost none of it has been read outside a specialist library. At the current pace of human scholarship, completing that translation work would take approximately 12,000 years. On
