I asked them more then once to stop sending me 2-3 pages of expen$ive treated paper every week. They didn't stop. I wrote the request on a piece of paper and began to fax them. But I snapped the case open half way-ish through and stopped it sending, cancelling the call. Next, I used sticky tape to form the paper into a roll. Then I faxed them again. For a long time... I stopped using paypal, because I finally got a credit card in my old age (for travel), but it's mastercard, so that would drag me down some more, I suppose. Linux, /e/os on a used handy, my own email, .de VPS's, selfhosted fedi/peertube/et  al, libreoffice.

I had hoped the Greens would do better though. Reform is repugnant and sickening. Same bunch that voted for brexit I expect.

You have to literally pay me to use microsoft on your computers. And, thanks for that!! :-) If you were using linux/bsd, you wouldn't need me, so you are doing a public service and feeding me.

I wondered at the significance of "massive collection of snail shells"? That was odd! :-) The fungi hot pot sounds great - I forage for mushrooms every year. Things like matsutaki/pines, boletes and others are cash crops here, but I just eat mostly. And dehydrate and freeze.

Opposition to American wars is not automatically framed as hostility towards Americans as a people. Protest against the Chinese government is not assumed to be anti-Chinese racism. Only when it comes to Israel does this distinction repeatedly collapse.

Here, provincially, I've joined some others in starting a riding assoc. for the Greens with some people from another outfit I belong to. Never had a Green candidate here. One of our number asked our candidate what success would look like and he said 20%, which I think is realistic as a hope, but I'd be happy with nearly anything. His job is to get our agenda on the table at town halls, in the news and so on. I've supported candidates with free websites and promotion for the same reason who had much less hope in the past! :-)

I sometimes made 50 cents an hour as a ball boy at the PNE for 2-3 hours. Food and cigs. One day, I was caught for shoplifting and sent to juvie. Ironically, I wasn't actually shoplifting (for a change - had to eat). There was a store named Eaton and they had a book store on the basement floor of a tall building. I was going in and boosting e..g. popular electronics/science, sciAm magazines, going out into the mall, reading them and then putting them back... Store detective got me. VJDH, Vancouver Juvenile Detention home looked not too bad from the outside, but we had actual cells with slits and barred windows. I was by myself for a week, then in a room/cell with 3 others. I found 'school' and volunteered for the kitchen. I loved it there! 3 meals, dry. Way better than going 'home'. I wanted to stay actually. Read down to Juvie and The Last Gang https://evelazarus.com/burrard-view-park/ https://placesthatmatter.ca/location/burrard-view-park/ Court days were Tuesday and Thursday. Armed sheriffs would escort me to the courts. Remanded until Thursday. Remanded until Tuesday. One day, in about 5-6 weeks, I made the mistake of smiling at the verdict. The judge reversed his decision and ordered me 'home'. Fsck! I escaped, but whatever.
