@eff now lobby local and state governments to do the same. When I get an amber or silver alert from my police department on my phone I shouldn't get a pop up that covers the information as soon as the page loads. I shouldn't need an x.com account to read the information in the comments.

@chirpbirb one of my very first interactions online was me bitching about how some version of a Linux audio driver wasn't working with my PC on a forum. I got a response that it was open source and to either pay someone, fix it myself, or shut up. I was 13 and that was 20 years ago. Some people aren't built for this open source life.

I recently deleted #Instagram from my phone.

I'm definitely feeling some weird withdrawals. If #meta's products weren't addictive I don't think I'd be feeling like this.

I have to remind myself I'm not separating myself from my friends and family, I'm separating myself from a billionaire's influence over my #habits and #data.

@stux@mstdn.social I know Jim Browning is a pretty famous #scam baiter but on the other hand I sympathize with a brown person thinking that being white will increase their chances of getting a #job. I don't know if that's the case here but I know there are hard working brown skin people just trying everything they can to earn money. This is a symptom of #WhiteSupremacy in an extremely unfair world. P.S. this video is funny AF.

I definitely saw a crow snatch a baby bird today. It was flying with it in its mouth literally being chased by a bunch of smaller sparrows, like 5 or 6 of them.

@cstross let them. I have enough faith in the open source philosophy that it can pick out what's useful and disregard what's not. As phar as the proprietary code issue let the LLM providers deal with that they feed the code into their systems and produce the output so it's their burden.
