I just love #TurnBased #games so much more than anything else. Especially today, where everything feels fast, loud and overwhelming, I need games that actually give me time to #think.
With #RealTime you react, with #TurnBased you #plan. That is a huge difference. I sit there, analyse the #situation, think three moves ahead, and when my #strategy pays off, it feels genuinely rewarding.
On top of that: #TurnBasedGames are almost always more #complex and #deep. #XCOM, #BattleTech, #TacticsOgre, these games demand real #thinking. No muscle memory, no reflexes, just pure #strategy.
In a world full of #notifications, #stress and constant #overstimulation, this is almost like #meditation for me.
My #pace, my #decisions, my #game.

#OpenSource: Free for You, Profitable for Them.
OpenSource means: #software where the #sourcecode is freely available and often costs nothing. Sounds great, but there is a catch.
#Companies like #Microsoft, #Google and #Amazon fund large #OpenSource #projects not out of #idealism, but because they build profitable #cloudservices on top of them and pocket the money.
Small #developers who charge for their work barely stand a chance against "free". Yet thousands of hours go into these projects. The #maintainers, the people who keep these projects alive, often work unpaid until they hit #burnout.
#Free does not automatically mean ethical. It is often just convenient.

So this is what a #tech giant actually looks like.
#Meta is installing tracking software on US #employee systems, recording mouse movements, clicks and keystrokes via a tool called "Model Capability Initiative" (#MCI), including occasional screenshots. Goal: train #AI models so future agents can autonomously handle work tasks.
#Legal experts warn this likely violates #GDPR in the #EU. In #Germany, keystroke logging is only allowed in exceptional cases.
The irony: #employees are told they are "just doing their daily work" while training the #AI that may replace them... 🧐

#SciFi is my favourite genre and always will be. No other storytelling form dares to ask: what if we are not alone? What if machines think? What if humanity spreads across galaxies?
It builds entire worlds from scratch, where physics bends, societies evolve in strange directions, and #technology reshapes what it means to be human. #StarTrek, #Gattaca, #Interstellar, these are not just stories. They are serious questions about where we are heading and what we might become.
What pulls me deepest is the #possibility. #AI, #SpaceTravel, genetic engineering, none of this is pure fantasy anymore. #SciFi saw it all coming first.
No chosen hero needed. Just one idea worth thinking about long afterward.
That is rare.
That is irreplaceable.

#GrandStrategy is the closest thing to a time machine I have ever found. Games like #EuropaUniversalis, #CrusaderKings or #Victoria give me an entire world and ask: what if? What if a small dynasty conquered Europe? What if one single decision changed the course of history entirely?
You rewrite the timeline, pull on one thread, and watch everything unravel differently. Every campaign is a new alternate universe worth exploring.
And then there are titles like #DistantWorlds or #Stellaris, where the same depth applies but the sandbox is an entire galaxy. Civilisations rising, collapsing, first contact scenarios, technology trees that reshape everything.
No other genre makes consequences feel this real.
That is exactly why I prefer #SciFi over #Fantasy. Both have their place, and #Fantasy builds breathtaking worlds with real depth and imagination. But for me personally, SciFi just hits differently.
It is rooted in science, in questions we might actually face one day. Fantasy stays a world. SciFi becomes a warning, a prediction, a hope. That connection to reality is what I need.
TLDR;
SciFi takes real science and stretches it to the extreme. Fantasy invents rules that are internally logical, but have nothing to do with reality.
One of my biggest #gaming pet peeves in #RPGs: #helmets, #hats, #caps and #capes.
Don't get me wrong, if the #stats are good, I'll equip them. But 99.9% of the time I will immediately hide them visually if the #game allows it.
A rogue's worn leather cap, a #thief's hood, a #warrior's iron bucket on their head... all hidden. The only exception? If an #armor piece genuinely looks stunning, we're talking a truly unique, well-designed #outfit that actually fits the #character.
A carefully designed #character face buried under generic headgear? Not on my watch. A #cape flapping around like they're auditioning for a #fantasy theatre production? Also hidden.
#Immersion is visual too.
