What's your favorite linux os you suggest to beginners who wish to learn linux? Just wondering as ive been told many os’s online and then told to not use certain one aswell, i feel confused on what linux os to try someday. i come from windows 10 and i always find i need windows on atleast 1 device, and put linux on the “outdated” devices, but i keep hoping around, i cant seem to make up my mind.

Here is how I wasted the last 30 minutes with #mozilla #thunderbird Suddenly, the "add attachment" dialogue window stopped appearing. I could not attach memes to my emails anymore. I messed a bit around, unsuccessfully. Nothing appears anywhere in logs. I also checked #bugzilla , but that bug tracker is a huge mess and I can't wrap my head around it. Defeated, I tried #ai , which, I have to admit, helped. But not immediately. It went carefully through discarding possible culprits one by one, starting from the most common issues, until it found the cause. The culprit, in my case, is a ridiculous #bug (anyone feel free to report it, I won't touch Bugzilla with a stick) I deleted the last directory which I had last used to attach a file from. This path remains stored as default "last used" directory. Thunderbird did not find the directory anymore and decided to FREAK OUT SILENTLY instead of doing something sensible, like defaulting to my home, or at least alerting me that the directory could not be found. I want my 30 minutes back :( #rant #linux #opensource #foss #floss

#CachyOS #Linux #OpenSource #neuhier

Hello Fediverse. srvScripts is a small site for people who keep servers running: cPanel, DirectAdmin, Linux, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 and VoIP.

What's free:

  • online checks for email deliverability, IP blacklists, DNS and SSL
  • scripts you can read before you run them
  • fix guides that start with the short answer and say how they were tested

Run by a working sysadmin. Questions and corrections are welcome.

Does anyone know of some calendar-validator or calendar-checker software for Linux? Cheers!

Hello. This is the account for Mise, a privacy focused browser I have been building, mostly for my own daily use. It has workspace isolation, a built in ad blocker, tab hibernation, split view, a PDF reader, dark mode, and a userscript engine among other things. Close to a 1.0 release now. Happy to answer questions, and always interested in which sites trip the fingerprint protections if anyone runs into that. https://rakosn1cek.github.io/Mise-browser/ #Introduction #FOSS #OpenSource #Privacy #Electron #Linux

I can't get rootless xorg to work Nvidia, voidlinux, sddm. It doesn’t get past plymouth (I can still get to the console with ctrl alt functionthing ofc) I’ve tried setting the nvidia-drm.modeset=1 (i did xbps-reconfigure -fa after that) in console thing in /etc/default/grub. I’ve enabled elogind as a service. I obviously did /etc/sddm.conf.d/rootless-x11.conf [General] DisplayServer=x11-user sddm doesn’t work after that until i change x11-user for x11. I also did /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config needs_root_roghts = no allowed_users=anybody But that one doesn’t really seem to change much. I also removed the execs from some part of the xinit ig.
