Mit dem "Kids Act" plant die EU neben der #Chatkontrolle ein weiteres Instrument zur Massenüberwachung und autoritären Kontrolle im digitalen Raum. Wieder ist "Kinderschutz" nur ein Vorwand. Die von der Kommission vorgestellten Pläne sehen vor, dass zukünftig alle Menschen beim Nutzen von nicht eindeutig jugendfreien Websites, Spieleplattformen aber auch dem Download von Apps, einen digitalen Altersnachweis erbringen müssen. Damit geht das Vorhaben der EU sogar weiter als ähnliche Entwicklungen in Australien. Die eigens von der EU Kommission entwickelte Altersverifikations-App wird wahrscheinlich die Nutzung eines Smartphones erzwingen (#Digitalzwang) und nur auf den OS eines Tech Konzerns wie Google oder Apple funktionieren (#Lobbyismus). Auch die Mitgliedsstaaten sollen Apps bzw. "digitale Identitäten" dazu zur Verfügung stellen. Während die EU gezielt Desinformationen von angeblichem Jugendschutz und Datenschutzfreundlichkeit dieser Apps streut und die Öffentlichkeit täuschen möchte, zeichnet sich ab, dass der Datenschutz keineswegs dauerhaft gewährleistet ist und dass Funktionserweiterungen (#function creep) einfach möglich sind. In jedem Fall sind die Europäische Union und viele nationale Regierungen mit Vorhaben wie dem "Kids Act" und "digitalen Identitäten" dabei, Werkzeuge zur Kontrolle von Informationszugängen und Kommunikationsmöglichkeiten einzuführen, die sich nicht nur auf den digitalen Raum beschränken.
