G'day cobbers, and behold the glorious return of #ThePlaylist. Our theme this week: A Land Down Under where we've got two hours of songs that we'll be playing upside down, while fighting off kangaroos and emus and flaming galahs and that, while some mongrel nicks our ute. #TheArchive - https://djdarren.site/archive/podcast/theplaylist-090-a-land-down-under/ Mixcloud - https://www.mixcloud.com/DJDarren/theplaylist-02022026-a-land-down-under/ Listen! NEXT WEEK ON #ThePlaylist Things feel a bit...fraught at the moment, and we have a tendency to forget that there's a good number of us who believe in the right things. So with that in mind, next week's theme will be: We All Stand Together Now, it *could* be two straight hours of The Frog Chorus, or you could let me know where the theme takes your brane, and sling it at me with #ThePlaylistSuggestion. Let's spend a couple of hours remembering that we're all in it together. // https://stream.djdarren.site // Monday 19:00-21:00 UK // // https://djdarren.site/archive/podcast/ //

However you could colour me gobsmacked when @DJDarren@mendeddrum.org played the original on #ThePlaylist the other week. I had no idea that the Buggles version was a cover (well, sorta) ... #TOTP

Behold, this week's all-star edition of #ThePlaylist, where our theme is: Shoes Or, well, footwear as a whole if we're honest. Because MOST of you seem to believe that a boot is a shoe. Two hours of the finest footwear themes for your fanciest footwork. #TheArchive - https://djdarren.site/archive/podcast/theplaylist-088-shoes/ Mixcloud - https://www.mixcloud.com/DJDarren/theplaylist-26012026-shoes/ Listen! NEXT WEEK ON #ThePlaylist It's Australia day (today), and while I don't necessarily wish to endorse colonialism, it is worth noting that Australia has produced some absolute bangers. So with that in mind, next week's theme is: A Land Down Under Though it's fair to point out that the theme doesn't necessarily mean you have to suggest Australian/antipodean acts. Let the theme take your brane where it may. Sling your suggestions at me with #ThePlaylistSuggestion, and together we'll put together a bonza show mate. // https://stream.djdarren.site // Monday 19:00-21:00 UK // // https://djdarren.site/archive/podcast/ //

On this week's episode of #ThePlaylist... Two weeks ago I admitted the terrible secret of my birth, and the disco banger that heralded it, which has led to wanting to hear your: Birthday Number Ones We weren't cruel though, and allowed you to pick from tracks that have attained the summit of Mount Pop on any of your birthdays, be they singles, or from albums. And there are some CRACKERS in the pile. #TheArchive - https://djdarren.site // https://stream.djdarren.site // Monday 19:00-21:00 UK // // https://djdarren.site/archive/podcast/ // #Podcast #NowPlaying #Music #Radio

NEXT WEEK ON #ThePlaylist, a guest theme from @losttourist@social.chatty.monster... Here in the northern hemisphere, the nights are beginning to draw in, the temperatures are beginning to drop, so when better to choose the theme of: Horticulture We realise that you lot don't look like your average horti-bleedin-culturalists, but you surely know some songs about plants and trees and that. And no weed-shaming on our watch! Remember, a weed is just a plant you didn't grow on purpose! Sow your suggestions in the fertile grounds of #ThePlaylistSuggestion, and let them grow into beautiful beanstalks, upon which my giant bot will gobble them all up. // https://stream.djdarren.site // Monday 19:00-21:00 UK // // https://djdarren.site/archive/podcast/ // #Podcast #NowPlaying #Music #Radio

@JodiTheEntitled@mastodon.nz occasionally YT shows me something worthwhile, but not reliably. Works best when you align the algorithm by actively going down a rabbit hole. Mastodon has music hash tags where people post tracks on a theme, like #ThursdayFiveList and #JukeboxFridayNight There's at least one music podcast advertising on here with a collaborative track list, #ThePlaylist . Obviously not the same as an algo that suggests music similar to what you listen to, but a way to hear new things.

This week on #ThePlaylist we have a theme brought to you by none other than @daveybot@mastodon.scot, Laird of the Wild Lands Beyond The Wall, who wanted to hear your best songs about: Furniture So we've got two hours of tunes about tables and chairs and ottomans and beds, and armchairs and sofas and that. Or whatever sparked in your brains at seeing the word 'furniture'. #TheArchive - https://djdarren.site/archive/podcast/theplaylist-120-furniture/ Listen! Enjoy!
