I long for a Nuremberg-like reckoning for the people responsible. They have wrought unforgivable damage, chief amongst which is the time wasting and active hindrance of efforts to address the climate crisis. Absolutely reprehensible. History will judge them unsparingly.

Today’s rice paddy pic.
Spotted in our local park last week.

Rice paddy pic No. 78.
Taken last Thursday when I thought the end of the rainy season was imminent and the farmer had decided to drain the paddies.

Bravo!
I enjoyed this 5 minute film of Sayuri Ichida talking about her photographic work and printing technique using washi paper.
Gorgeous snowy landscapes and striking images of her sister.

@daringfireball@mastodon.social what a warm, thoughtful and generous tribute. A mirror of the man, by all accounts.

@TwoClownsEating@beige.party For a chatty builder's mate to say nothing to you is odd. You probably looked more like you than he out of context. Did you notice any biscuits in his trolley?
Slightly disappointed that the Middle Eastern wedding party didn’t instantly block your path and insist that you join the celebration.

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social The one in Japan was 700 kms from where we are. It rocked our building causing tea in mugs on the breakfast table to lap gently from side to side. Some of my students said they felt dizzy. It reminded me of the far off, powerful feel during the big 2011 quake.
‘The 10,000-year clock will mark time with astronomic and calendric displays and a chime generator designed with the help of Brian Eno that can produce over 3.5 million unique bell chime sequences — one for every day the clock is visited for the next 10,000 years.’
The 10,000 year clock is a mechanism built inside a mountain in Texas. Its existence helps us question.
Can it have a similar effect on our thinking that the Apollo photographs of Earth had for concern for the environment?
Are we being good Ancestors?
What if…?
Why have I never heard of this before today?

@Wallflower thank you. It’s a new project to document the growth of the rice in a series of paddies I pass when I walk to work.

@pws@social.coop I did almost the same trip in reverse. 1985, train to Split, cycled down to Dubrovnik then back north up the coast and via Plitvic. Finished in Venice. Many happy memories.

@Fragglemuppet@fandom.ink acting bad usually happens when driving (parping the horn or being insufficiently patient) but my wife usually encourages me to do better. The opportunity to act childishly (daft puns, jokey comments) is generously provided for here and that’s one of the things I enjoy about the Fedi community.
