“There is a cohort of men who resent the responsibilities and obligations of adulthood—of the fact that you owe things to other people.” - Jamelle Bouie I could not agree more with this article & not just because I, too, was raised to be an asshole man & still have to beat that motherfucker inside me down all the goddamn time. Talk to your fucking boys. If they get mad at you they weren't your friends to begin with. https://buttondown.com/monteiro/archive/how-to-help-men-pull-their-heads-out-of-their/ #equality #masculinity #feminism #MikeMonteiro

RE: https://kolektiva.social/@wrzky/116840235559384861 UPDATE. Water's still off. 100/350 raised toward getting it back, $250 left. $718 remaining for July overall. Thank you to everyone who's given and shared my plea so far. https://ko-fi.com/wrzky/goal Please help however you can. Boosting this also helps, more than you know. Thank you, thank you @mutualaidspace@mutualaidspace.org @wrzky@wrzky.com @mutualaid@ovo.st @mutualaid@fedigroups.social @disability @edendestroyer@social.chinwag.org @QuyetPawz@tech.lgbt @ellespeaks@mastodon.social @frugalcoffee@kolektiva.social @nillerus@kolektiva.social @actuallyadhd@fedigroups.social @autistics@fedigroups.social#MutualAid #MutualAidRequest #DisabilityCrowdfund #DisabilityMutualAid #EmergencyCrowdfund #healthcare #poverty #mentalhealth #feminism #politics #disability #activism #writer #DisabledWriters #fedihelp #activitypub #fediverse #socialmedia #neurodivergence #audhd #autism #chronicillness

Didn't meet last month's minimum essential needs goal, as usual. The unmet $218 really needs to be added to July because it was for meds.

July essential needs: $818 (deadline: 16/07): • $218 meds • $250 groceries ✅$350 maintenance fee + utilities + internet bills (can't be paid separately), breakdown:

  • $225 building maintenance fee, charged every 6 months.
  • $90 electricity and water
  • $35 Wi-Fi + mobile data

I'm too disabled for corporate jobs, and I don't have a fixed income. Monthly pledges are what allow me to barely function and continue building the mutual aid infra I've been working on. One-off support also helps.

Support options: https://wrzky.com/links

Any support is much appreciated.

Please boost this so my request can reach further than my feed. Thank you, thank you 🙂‍↕️💜

Campism: "A paradigmatic case relates to the early years of the 1979 Revolution, when two opposed left strategies in Iran confronted the real threat of U.S. imperialism. On one side, the pro-Soviet Tudeh Party called for a “United People’s Front” with “the steadfast fighters on the path of Ayatollah Khomeini,” branding women, leftist, and minority struggles as divisive “imperialist plots” that endangered national unity. On the other, the National Democratic Front (NDF) insisted that only deepening the revolution’s democratic content and defending the fundamental rights of the people could secure its anti-imperialist endurance. When the Islamic Republic, under the banner of anti-imperialism, crushed the NDF and other leftist and minority movements, the Tudeh Party not only remained silent but at times endorsed this repression—until the same machinery eventually turned against its own leadership." an internationalist critique by Amir Kianpour & Morteza Samanpour: https://portolan-journal.org/?post=many-shades-of-campism-an-internationalist-critique via @leilashami@spore.social #strategy #Iran #Palestine #internationalism #Syria #Hezbollah #feminism #antiImperialism #politics #campism #islamism #Houthis

Hear, hear! "Make the White House press corps nothing but women. Right now, Trump (like all chauvinists) sees every man in that gaggle as a potential ally–every time they don’t call out his behavior, it is tacit approval. (And, honestly, it sort of is.)" https://www.mediaite.com/opinion/two-ways-to-stop-trump-from-abusing-cnns-kaitlan-collins/ #USPol#media#Feminism

An absolutely brilliant speech by Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, President of the Government of Spain. This is leadership in action: values, direct, unreservedly, and unapologetically. #MustWatch #MustListenhttps://youtu.be/Q7A7lAViy-8#Inspirational #LeadershipMatters #UN #UNGA #Spain #Sanchez #HumanRights #USA #Israel #SecurityCouncil

#Meta bans ads for Virginia Woolf play in Spain because they relate to #feminism The theatre was told that “any mention of civil rights, feminism or social reform [topics that are central to Woolf’s work] are usually classified as ‘social topics’ by our automatic system” and are filtered out. To resolve the situation, Meta recommended removing “key words” so that the text doesn’t appear to encourage activism. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/sep/21/meta-ban-virginia-woolf-a-room-of-ones-own-barcelona-teatre-raval #SocialMedia #Censorship

Where abortion is on the ballot in 2026: Voters in Idaho, Missouri, Nevada and Virginia will address how their states regulate reproductive rights. Four years after the fall of Roe v. Wade, abortion — which defined the 2022 midterms and much of the subsequent presidential campaign — has largely receded from the spotlight as 2026 candidates focus on issues of affordability, the proliferation of data centers and the prolonged war in Iran. But in four midterm races spanning different regions of the country, voters will have a chance to weigh in directly on how their states approach abortion. One ballot measure could overturn a strict ban. Another could undo abortion rights protections voters secured just two years ago. And in two others, voters won’t change what abortion access looks like, but they will have a chance to strengthen existing protections by amending their state constitutions. Here is a breakdown of where abortion is back on the ballot.

Herman, in 'Trauma and Recovery', points out the rather fundamental problem. The thing researchers were trying to explain in those studies into abused women was men’s violence. Yet they were looking for the explanation in the characteristics of the women the men are violent towards. Men’s violence is men’s behaviour, and yet an enormous amount of effort has gone into trying to explain it by examining women. ♀️👀 3/13 #Feminism #EqualRights #SocialJustice #GenderEquality

RAPE HAS ALWAYS BEEN USED AS A WEAPON OF WAR IN PATRIARCHY - NEITHER MEN ON THE RIGHT NOR MEN ON THE LEFT WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT BOTH sides in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict think they're justified in killing anything that moves. NEITHER side is "defending" itself. What's happening is what happens in ALL wars - misogynist MEN are taking out their grievances with other men by annihilating women's bodies. Sexual Violence as a Weapon of War https://youtu.be/JTVVCfvrITY RAPE AS A WEAPON OF WAR AND IT'S LONG-TERM EFFECTS ON VICTIMS AND SOCIETY https://www.peacewomen.org/sites/default/files/vaw_rapeasaweaponofwar_stopmodernslavery_may2008_0.pdf "Rape in warfare is rooted deep in world history and well established in modern warfare, however it can no longer remain an issue silenced by suppressive governments, ignorance and fear. The idea that rape is a normal byproduct of war, due to its continual use historically and currently, only perpetuates its use. The seeing of it as normal and its continual impunity increases its use as a weapon, the perpetrators are less likely to be tried for rape than murder. " Rape as a Weapon of War and it’s Long-term Effects on Victims and Society Rape as a Weapon of War and Genocide: https://www.cmc.edu/sites/default/files/humanrights/Rape%20as%20a%20tool%20of%20war.pdf “Rape committed during war is often intended to terrorize the population, break up families, destroy communities, and, in some instances, change the ethnic makeup of the next generation. Sometimes it is also used to deliberately infect women with HIV or render women from the targeted community incapable of bearing children.” For centuries, rape has been used as a spoil of war and as a weapon—possibly the most brutal weapon of war—in order to exercise power and dominance over women and undermine the social fabric of society. It is a method of torture both physical and psychological, and is a crime, just like murder, and in many cases."
