Just submitted a dissertation intersecting critical code studies, digital humanities, design research, and video game studies. Head of Study Program in Digital Humanities at the University of Bern. Beekeeper without bees. Currently into wetlands — he/him/agen/adhd.
Header is a lake with a forest-covered hill-slope on the left. Summery mood, few scattered clouds, small boats in the distance.
Let this tiny moss tree bring you joy today.
The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of blossoms.
It is full moon 🌕 and May 1st
Great day to start an unionized coven.

I wanted to work on an are.na replacement and instead I wrote 'goblin.sh', a bash utility for collecting and managing a stash of items (notes, files, or web things).

Writing the script made me realize what I liked and disliked about other such tools, and what kind of relationship I actually want with such computing activities.
Much thanks to @anmeisel@mastodon.social, who gave a fantastic workshop on the intersection of #Permacomputing, literate programming, and repair manuals. I took 'goblin.sh' with to that event and I was really motivated to rewrite the whole thing and wrap it in a proper README.
Next step, learning Lua!
I have never been more offended by a website's typography. Sent me directly into #ADHD overdrive, and wondering what this does to people with dyslexia. Screenreaders should be fine, but still, wrapping every single word through JS in a span is nasty.
RE: @devsimsek@universeodon.com
I'm less interested in the mathematical prove and rather in the concept of 'model collapse' and that it forgets what reality is like. That sounds wild. LLM is k-holeing? I mean, AGI is based on the wrong assumption that intelligence can scale, whatever that means. Intelligence is at best described as an assemblage of affordances and enactivism, and never not as a unit of measurement. That already creates a fallacy where people attempt to measure and apply it economically. Super unhealthy, let alone IQs rooting in eugenics and racism.
Thanks to @anmeisel@mastodon.social I will never not forget the word #permacruciating. It came into being as an accident, but I have yet to discover a better summary of the current timeline we find ourselves in.
`goblin.sh` is super neat.
I expected this to be a sideproject I'll forget after a while, but I keep on working on it, and I keep on relying on it, which I really didn't expect. Polished some of the rendering today and added some sparkles.

goblin basically lets me add whatever I come across and want to keep (local and remote files, websites, thoughts), and adds it together with a sprinkle of information to a csv. Mostly just simple automation, but in cute.
I have a hard time understanding that other people have a hard time understanding me.
End of spring in my town means, finally hearing the swifts giggle in the sky again. Also, observed a couple of kestrels circling a church tower. Guess I know now where they're nesting.
I repo-ed my `nano` setup for writing academic articles [1]. Pretty happy with how everything turned out so far, and I'm enjoying the simplicity of this a lot. I know `emacs` could do all of that, but we talked about this :drake_dislike:
