I'm watching a time travel / past life / alternate timeline story (I'm being fuzzy on identifying details because I don't want to spoil it for anyone), and I've finally hit the beat where the female lead explains to the male romantic lead why she knows what she knows... ...AND HE BELIEVES HER. 🔥 This is truly one of my favourite tropes and one of the hottest scifi/fantasy + romance tropes of all time. Is this because women and other marginalized people are so rarely believed and supported by cis men / members of dominant cultural groups? Yes, it is: we are hungry to be seen and believed. Want to knock the socks off of marginalized people (or at least this girl)? Listen to us, believe us, and trust our authority and expertise regarding our lived experiences (vs mansplaining, gaslighting, ignoring, etc.) This is truly top tier hotness and sexiness. 💋 *If you want to share your recommendations for stories with these kinds of dynamics in the mentions, please put them under a CW so there are no spoilers for people who want to leave that as a surprise. Ta! 😘 @bookstodon@fedigroups.social#Movies #Bookstodon #Romance #TimeTravel #Fantasy #SciFi #Kyriarchy #Intersectionality #SocialDynamics #Relationships

I went to check my Amazon things (because I am updating some banners) and found this - my book has been added to "Amazon Bestsellers in Disability Art" as number 21! :D Only thing that dims my joy, are the 8(?) AI books ahead of mine. So...if you would like to help bring forth actual art from a real disabled human - please buy my book and leave it a review! <3 And share, thank you! https://www.amazon.com/Idiopathic-HypersomNIA-Prison-Sleep-NIA/dp/9528818390 #Disability #NoAI #FuckAI #DisabledArtist #Bookstodon #Art #Comic #ComicBook #LGBTQAI+

The Smashwords Summer/Winter sale is on during July. Stinking hot / cold and rainy? Obviously you need to stay inside and read. All my books are 50% off. That makes them US$2 all month. They’re low-key fantasy with romantic subplots, often queer: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/wendylpalmer But you’ll find plenty of other Masto indie authors on the smashwords hashtag, and there’s lots and lots of books to browse at the site: https://www.smashwords.com/shelves/promos/1 #SmashWords #SmashwordSale #BookSale #bookstodon

I could use some book recommendations. I am looking for folk tale collections which are

1. from cultures outside of Europe, and

2. were written by people from that culture.

Ideally, they should also be translated into English (or German) by people from that culture as well.

It would also be a plus if they contain a lot of "local legends" which incorporate local geography and history (as opposed to "fairy tales" which take place at indeterminable places and times).

"كيف يمكن ألا يستطيع الإنسان أن يسير إلى ملكه الخاص؟ أن يزور قبر زوجته؟ أن يأكل ثمار أربعين جيلاً من كدح أسلافه من دون أن يعاقب بالموت رمياً بالرصاص؟ على نحو ما، لم يكن هذا السؤال الفجّ القاسي قد نفذ سابقاً إلي وعي اللاجئين الذين شوشتهم أبدية الانتظار، معلقين آمالهم على قرارات دولية نظرية" "How can a person not be able to walk to their own realm? To visit the spouse's grave? To eat the fruits of forty generations of the ancestors' toil without being punished by death by firing squad? In a way, this harsh, blunt question had not previously penetrated the consciousness of the refugees, who were bewildered by the eternity of waiting, pinning their hopes on hypothetical international decisions." ― Susan Abulhawa, in "Mornings in Jenin" (2006) poke @palestine@fedibird.com#exile #refugees #israelPalestine #PalestinianLivesMatter #OPT #WestBank #ethnicCleansing #RightToReturn #quotes #bookStodon #book

A WALL IS ALSO A ROAD comes out Tuesday 10/6, and that's when the Slime Mold Autumn book tour starts! @chanda@blacktwitter.io praised the book as a "magnificent work of cosmic imagination" and CB Lee called it "beautiful." Yumei Kitasei said, "Single-celled eukaryotes have never been so sexy." See me in San Francisco (10/6), Chicago (10/7), New York Comic-con (10/9), Boston (10/14), Burlington VT (10/15), and in Ottawa at Can*Con (10/17-18). #books #bookstodon #scifi #history #science

So the idea of Bookhouse is basically inspired by this book from 1979 called ‘Masquerade’ by an artist called Kit Williams. He hid a golden hare in the UK and wrote this book and filled it full of paintings as the clues to where the treasure is buried. I’m trying to do the same. But different. #kitwilliams #goldenhare #masquerade #treasurehunt #puzzlebook #bookstodon #reading #game
