@kati@fosstodon.org The stats for this game were BONKERS in Spain’s favor. I’m so glad it didn’t end in PKs.

Apparently the new #Firefly has everything except a distributor lined up; they’re asking for fans to show engagement on a particular Instagram post to help sell it, so go forth and like, comment, share, etc. to keep flying: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DV6Js56jT3F

@baconandcoconut@freeradical.zone @AlSweigart@mastodon.social Honestly I kind of want to go just to experience it, even though I am the complete opposite of the target audience. But I also don’t want to take a seat away from someone who’d actually benefit from it.

@deadwisdom @webology @ehmatthes Mayyyyyybe this will translate into increased financial support for the community, our events, the PSF…?
(Insert cynical laughter and/or Padme-and-Anakin meme here)

For those keeping score at home, I successfully outsmarted the problem not long after my prior toot.
tldr: Windows had gotten into an unbootable state. After a clean install it wanted to apply updates, but the first cumulative update it wanted to do kept hanging at 35% with the mobo showing various flavors of RAM failure. Lots of troubleshooting later, we finally did a fresh install from newer media (ie, we started from AFTER the bad CU) and all was well.

@ubernostrum On the plus side I’m a middle aged white dude with pre-check, so… idk. YMMV.

@Heartofcoyote @Colman I know, I know, I’m the guy who, any time someone makes the “how do reavers clean their spears” joke, still says “Too soon!”
But I’m still happy to give it a chance.

@basepi@fosstodon.org @bitprophet@social.coop This one left me a small can of shaving cream the other day. Very wtf imo.

@paulox@fosstodon.org Would you mind adding @pyohio@fosstodon.org to the list? It’s the longest continually-running US regional conference!

@nik@nkantar.social Mine was boring and professional but I’m tempted to get silly now. I’m thinking “I’m here live, I’m not a cat” would suit me.

@bitprophet@social.coop @nik@nkantar.social Dude, I’ve watched the ENTIRE UC — Char DEFINITELY did some wrongs!

@xavdid@mastodon.social We’re closing in on high school graduation. I can assure you confidently that it’s basically all curve balls.

@xavdid@mastodon.social Wonder Weeks won’t fix the sleep disruptions but it will warn you about them and what cognitive milestones they correspond to (and how to lean into them as a parent). I found it very helpful to be less surprised.

@offby1@wandering.shop Maybe they can do a collab with Allbirds on some AI-powered slippers.

@xavdid@mastodon.social I love how the score goes so hard to make up for otherwise banal shots. Bond is crossing the well-lit lobby of a hotel? THEME SONG AT MAXIMUM, BABY!!

@EWDurbin Thank you for your service to the community, and good luck with your next adventure.

@ryancheley@mastodon.social I’m so sorry you’re going through this, but I’m glad you got screened and that the prognosis is optimistic.
Definitely the right move to not plan on attending conferences for a bit — my dad went through radiation for his prostate cancer last year and while it seems to have worked (yay!) he was pretty wiped out by the end of treatment.
Sending you good vibes, best wishes, and hopes for many glimmers.

@paulox@fosstodon.org @pyohio@fosstodon.org Oh, interesting, thanks! I don’t operate it so I can’t do that, but hopefully one of my fellow organizers can. Cheers!

@ericwastl@hachyderm.io I think these are wise choices. When I was doing AoC early on I got into unhealthy patterns and by the end of 25 days wasn’t much fun for my family. After two or theee years I burned out and stopped participating.
I hope the changes are good to you too!

@mcc @bitprophet Take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing, something something?

@brianokken idk, he said all the DLSS5 naysayers are absolutely wrong, not absolutely right, so that still seems like he’s carbon-based, even if he’s too rich for a William Gibson character to accept him as human.

@ubernostrum Non-refundable plane tickets that I bought in 2025, so I guess good luck to me…

@pkw That they got acquired? Not really. More surprised/disappointed by who did the acquiring.

@Colman @Heartofcoyote Yup, it will be set after S1 and before Serenity (noted in my original post).

You might not believe me, but you’re going to do great. 🐍🎉

@georgically Which one are you building in? I did the Meshify 3 and found it pleasant but a bit on the cozy side when wrangling a GPU.

@xavdid@mastodon.social Periodic sleep regressions are normal. Check out a book called The Wonder Weeks; it was a big help for us during the big cognitive leaps that messed up sleep.
Replying to
@xavdid@mastodon.social what I was not prepared for was the outright rebellion from 4mo to 8mo that our daughter waged, in which she refused to sleep without being held. This is outside of the whole milestone thing unfortunately. It was a bleak period, with constant daytime drowsiness; I even had vivid audio hallucinations of the baby crying, so even if she was fine I would still hear her all the time.

@jcdvore Yup, hot off the presses! I’ve been compulsively refreshing the Reddit thread for the last half hour. 😅
@cheukting_ho Hey fyi your save the date link isn’t getting picked up as clickable. Might need to edit to give it an https:// or somesuch.
