Profile pic is of a gray uncanny robot child. The background is of a pair of frosted cakes that look like hot dogs. The "relish" is kiwi fruit.

I'm not sure when I became the kind of person that says, "ooh, a fitness center!" to myself when looking at hotels, but here we are.

Ok, I know I vague posted some sadness a little over a week ago, but I am now vague-posting some gladness. Squeee!! Can't say anything yet, but it's so good!
My first time (finally) attending #Nbpy was a delight! There were real birds tweeting, horses with opinions about lambdas, and many very lovely human beings who care deeply about tech being a friendly, thoughtful and empowering force in the world. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers for creating this space!

@allanwol@mastodon.social @ErikUden@mastodon.de You skipped over the part where many callers don't know what their neighbor's immigration status is. They're just calling because a non-white person has something they want. That's not "legitimate concern over strained day cares" that's racism.

@cmconseils@mastodon.social We put a cat flap on our bedroom door so that if we have guests over we can close the door and our cat can still come and go as he pleases.

@emma I had a dream a few years ago with Bernie in it where he said, "Once again, I am asking you for a ride to DeMoulas*"
- a New England supermarket, mostly called Market Basket today
(Why does Bernie need a ride to the supermarket? This is a great question that my brain did not answer before I woke up.)

Last day for #PyConUS hotels!! If you're attending, get yourself booked in one of the official conference hotels and then we can get into all the fun stuff, like when we're playing cards, where's the best coffee, the cutest ice cream and the closest sushi place.

LOL. This should be a good tutorial.

@jeffowski In PE I learned square dancing (where the teacher picked the awkward kids to gender flip for the cleanup square) and how to try to avoid getting hit in the face during dodge ball (bc the worst kids in class always got the ball) and how to pretend to not to care what people think (when the teacher ranked 4th graders in gymnastics and displayed it outside the lunchroom for a week.) Stretches and carrying would've been so useful.

@Fragglemuppet@fandom.ink I really enjoyed Lana Harper's Payback's a Witch series. Light, fun, queer stories about a magical witch town. If you want something a little darker, try Indira Das's The Devourers. It's a shape shifter story spread across a few timelines with queer and gender expansive characters. Finally, if you want more lesbian witches (plus a ghost!) solving mysteries, try The Undetectables series by Courtney Smyth, that follows a group of friends running a magical detective agency.
