Finally put a #noAI tag on my live coding stream footer (my "Lower Third" overlay). Now I can just point and don't have to talk about why I'm not talking about "AI".

@GeePawHill I’ve been advocating the anti-community and anti-collaboration angles at gatherings and it seems to be landing in ways that other angles (ethics, morals) haven’t.

@roundcrisis@types.pl @ChrisSimonAu@hachyderm.io For me, more detailed examples, such as the specific architectural stressors generated and used and the resulting incident matrix.

@inthehands@hachyderm.io This is why I live stream my coding, which I do without the use of LLMs. I love the thinking/design process AND the writing of the code. And while it might *seem* slow, so what? The journey is (mostly!) enjoyable and provides meaning and community for me.

@peter@mastodon.gassner.io Yes, in my experience, I really needed to implement a small example app to see what Event Sourcing felt like. I wouldn't worry (yet) about production limitations, for the most part, there aren't any to worry about when you're just learning. In terms of refactoring to different events, generally I don't think that happens much. Either you will create new events, or add new properties to existing events, but those are easier to work with than trying to rename properties or remove them.

@peter@mastodon.gassner.io You may already know that ES is a current passion of mine. I have a couple of online talks (in addition to far too many hours of live streaming videos) about ES: https://ted.dev/talks/#event-sourcing-from-scratch-(nov.-25%2C-2025) along with my learning journal on the topic: https://ted.dev/tag/jitterticket/ Hope to give this talk at a Zürich user group meeting in November.

@RuthMalan@mastodon.social To me, the friction that comes from disagreement (and often, misunderstandings) is where the magic in human collaboration comes from. LLMs (in whatever form) don’t have a point of view (because they are manifestations of statistics) and therefore are easily “pushed around”, providing no useful friction on their own.

@Mastodon@mastodon.social Hah, wow, those "instructions" are terrible.

"Put a link to your Mastodon profile on your website or webpage. The important part is that the link has to have a rel="me" attribute on it. Then edit your Mastodon profile and put the address of your website or web page in one of your four profile fields. Save your profile, that's it!"

What now? Website or webpage (is there a difference)? Where do I put the rel="me"? Does it matter? What if I'm using Markdown to generate the link, then what? Oh, and "website or web page", wait, is it "webpage" or "web page"?

Can you maybe provide an example or two? Or a link to where this is already documented? I know what you're trying to do, but a bit more hand-holding here would do a world of good for those less technically inclined.

@kagihq@mastodon.social I also don't see a way to turn off autocorrect in the iOS app (it's available on the web page?), not sure that's possible, but it really causes problems.

Still another ~4 hours to go, but that's OK, I've got lots of room and time to work on my update of the Spring Recipes book. Just learned about the new FullyQualifiedConfigurationBeanNameGenerator, which I might add as a small recipe. #SpringFramework #EuropeTravel

It's weird I'm editing this text and sentences with the structure "You have to do this thing in order to achieve this goal" seems more confusing than "In order to achieve this goal, you have to do this thing".

And the reason it's weird, is I've found myself writing the same kinds of sentences. Now I switch them around so it's goal-then-method.

Am I wrong? Is method-then-goal better?

Is it acceptable to use “event-sourcing-pilled”?? Cuz when I look at the supposed simplicity of using ORMs, I can’t help but think we’ve gotten so used to the hidden (and visible!) complexity that we don’t see it anymore. And then event-sourcing looks so much simpler in comparison.
