Just added a list to Lokjo with european brands who sell phones online with alternative OS installed, and a list of most OS's for installing yourself.

Go on, get yourself a google/apple-free phone, happy phoning. 😊

Lokjo, the European map showing you local shops and filtering out corporations/chains from the category-searches, is coming in 5 languages:
English: https://www.lokjo.com
Deutsch: https://www.lokjo.com/#:de
Nederlands: https://www.lokjo.com/#:nl
Francais: https://www.lokjo.com/#:fr
Espanol: https://www.lokjo.com/#:es
Time to get the european economy back to fair & independent.
Give it a share if you like. 😊
Europeans!
Make a change, flip the switch.
Changing from US corporate products to European results in a strong reduce of:
- lobbying power (change laws for a payment)
- pollution (cheap fabrication, oil/gas consume)
- profit wars (oil/arms industry)
- bad wages (no minimum)
and many more.

Go europe. 😊
Politicians who vote against climate change laws most probably have stocks in oil/lng and an air-conditioned house.
It makes you double think before voting for them again.
p.s. the more right wing you vote, the more politicians call 'I care for the middle class' just to get your vote and make you feel like you're part of the 'special group', but really care about corporate goals, of which you really aren't part.
This happens over and over and over again.
Just had a thought thingy:
App-tabs.
When people have a website and users would like to have it as an app, you can set a link on your mobile desktop, which opens a stand-alone browser tab, with the website in it, acting as an App.
This would seperate it from the browser, you can clear cache, set priveliges etc only for that App-tab AND corporations can't take (most of) the data through the OS.
Just to answer many questions, the 'phone' page I've added to Lokjo is not affiliated, which means I'm not making money on 'clicks' in any way.
I'm doing this simply to tell people there is an option to buy european phones.
The map Lokjo is build in a volunteer way too, like many other people do, we care about progress and solving problems.
We run on donations to get the costs done, but we're not -in any way- connected to some sort of profit.
Just to get that clear. 😊
There's a few reasons why I build Lokjo.
- I kept hearing shops in my area (Berlin) were bought up by corporates, given the choice to pay double/tripple rent or get out.
- People do support local shops but they're hard to find with corporate googlemaps.
- Most local shops have their own products for a NORMAL price, good quality, no slave-labour or dirty 'investments' behind it, just people doing what they love.
Give it a try if you like.
Dear fediversians! When you search for hastags #EU or #Europe, you'll find a timeline equivalent to the average raging twitter acount, full of bad political crap.
In order to stop this, and show what the fediverse is REALLY like, please ad the #EU or #Europe tag with some neutral or GOOD news, and show how european social media really is way better then the corporate american ones.
That's it, thanks. 😊
How one small voice can start a whole symphony.
To celebrate the European birthday, here's an (old) flashmob playing 'Ode to Joy', which is the european anthem.

Play it out loud. :)
Just fixed a bug which breaked the map on clicking certain locations.
Just so you know it's working again.
There's an extra option now on the Alternative OS page where you can search by model-number (over 420x) and see which OS you can install on your phone
Lokjo is a map in a website. There is no app needed.
Which means you can use it on every device and every operating system. No installs, no updates, no data capture, no nothing.
Just open a browser and there you have it.
p.s. For quick access just set your language, navigate to your city and then add a link to your desktop.
An interesting comment from a local shop owner in Berlin which I had a chat with.
"During corona it showed people do have interest in supporting local shops. The conclusion -after calculating- is that if every person uses only 3 local shops to buy their things at, then local shops can survive.'
This is just great, and another reason why the idea behind Lokjo is 'on the point'.
😃 - Iiiiif you're happy and you know it clapp your hands, *clap clap* if you're happy and you know it clap your hands, *clap clap* if you're happy and you know it there's no better way to show it if you're happy and you know it clap your hands! *clap clap*
🦖 - Basterds!
Following the Rollstuhlfahrer protest here in Berlin, I've listed a new option on the to-do list to make in the next few weeks, to show -if there is any info- if a place is accessible with wheelchair or not.
You can already see with many places if they are accessible, partly or not, on the bottom of the popups/list, but this would make it far more easier.
I'll keep you up to date when there's more.
Some new things on the map.
GPS now needs to be switched on, instead of the automatic default when opening Lokjo. You can click the marker to turn it off again.
There is now a (very gentle!) button coming up offering to switch to your browserlanguage, which dissapeares after 3 second. Supported languages are EN, FR, NL, DE and ES.
And of course the usual bugfixes in the background.
Question which seems to be needed.
Is it a good thing to keep using a service even though you know the corporation screwed things up for years because well it's their profit-model and you are likely going to be complaining about it, again?
Asking for a friend.
p.s. some substitutes here

- Dude, isn't it time to clean the bathtub?
- What? Why?
- There's a frikkin tree growing in it.
- Looks 'feng-shui', man.
They should
- show up as a grey dot when you do a category search (supermarket)
- not show up in the list below the screen after doing a category search.
They do show up on the regular map and in the 'search' field for single locations. This is because people use them often as orientation point.
In the future there might be a setting to have all removed, entirely, from the map and search. This is how Lokjo started, but got too much criticism.
Hope that cleared things up.
Donations are what keeps the european Lokjo map running, and supports my extra working hours on the project.
If you open an account on Liberapay (takes 2 minutes) you can also donate with Bank transfer. Otherwise card or paypal are good too.
(still working on finding an option for Wero, Blik and other european transfers, hope to update soon!)
Otherwiser a share is great too, thanks!
There was a little bug where the close-button of certain popups wouldn't work, caused by some changes last week. This is fixed now.
I just watched the election in england on the news here and german broadcasters had a very hard time not mentioning Count Binface on the stage.
It ws so good to see him again!
Seriously, this hero has THE best political pamphlet of. all. time.
I'm taking some extra time off to work on fixes for Lokjo this week.
If you own a small shop or just like to support my working hours, donations are welcome.
Thanks 😊
