@kenney@mastodon.gamedev.place Though I don't need them myself, I've found that a collection of playing card and board game sounds that I recorded in 2019 have been super handy, these past years.
Card flips, lifting cards from table, dealing to table, general "swipes" of cards, shuffling decks.
Player token "taps" on the board. Plastic, metallic,
Dice rolls, dice shaking.
Things like that.
(Would donate, but they're 22050 mono 16bit, so not exactly high quality ;) )

@craiggrannell@mastodon.social eeeuw! I've been using the desktop version for a good year or so. I hope they don't do that, there, too.

@psychicparrot42 That sounds awesome!
My experience with Godot back in 2021 was a little rougher round the edges. Glad it's come along as nicely as it has.

@devlin I've never bothered looking into them, if I'm honest. I was always content with my 6128.
Memories of French Class.. I don't know why, but our French teacher ripped pages out of a French shopping catalogue and posted them around the room.
The poster by my seat was the computer page, and on it was a 6128+!!

If I could hazard a guess, sounds like power's going to the expansions more than the Disk drive.
It "runs" without the "male pin that goes into the monitor" connector plugged in, just without the disk drive. If the disk drive isn't working, then I'd guess the 12v isn't reaching it, so is being used for the expansions.
So, maybe a capacitor/resistor issue?
Do old CPCs need a "recap" like old Amigas do?
Also, give it an emotional stroke from me.

@devlin That sounds more like it's needing an extra oomph or something.. Maybe it's not the drive, then.. Maybe it's the CPU..? Like the drive's going "click click click" as normal, but with all the expansion work to do, the CPU can't keep up, so it tries to draw a little more power, but the expansion packs are draining all the extra power..?
... Does that make sense?
Might not even be power, might just be CPU cycles..

@devlin I'm trying to decide if I could do something like that, but .. You need a starting point, don't you. Where do you begin? Start with a random landscape, add objects you can gain craft supplies from, but then you need to have a list of things you can make, and ...
Then you need to code and design 100,000 craftable objects!
Aargh!

@craiggrannell@mastodon.social .. I don't think I've installed anything new, this year, that I've then continued to use.
Odd things to try out, here and there, but mostly deleted soon after.
Maybe I'm getting set in my ways. I need a toolkit refresh. Try something new.
Can't argue with a comfortable setup, though.

@craiggrannell@mastodon.social Do Apple do their own VM? That would be nice.. They'd probably overcharge by an insane amount, though. Have you SEEN the price of their Remote Desktop!?!

@craiggrannell@mastodon.social Surely the whole point of the GBA's clamshell was to protect the screen. Here, you're faffing about.. But the screen's still unprotected!!

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca It seems much more manageable, nowadays. Either that or I just didn't have a clue what I was doing with it, the last time I tried.
...
.... .. probably the latter, if I'm honest!
