I use the #Librem5 as my daily phone. I use the 3.5 mm jack nearly daily to listen to podcasts and internet radio.
I really like that the Librem 5 is a full Linux handheld device where I can use all Linux commands, and have full freedom.
No AI by default on the Librem 5, no ads, focus on #privacy and #security. It also has three hardware kill switches to disable mic, camera, wifi and bluetooth, and mobile data.

Personally, I do not use any Android apps on the #Librem5. However, you could run certain Android apps with #Waydroid, which is available in the #PureOS repository:

For calls and messages the Librem 5 is reliable for me, and they wake the phone up, also from suspend.

I think all app functionality can also be achieved via Progressive Web Apps ( #PWA ). A PWA should be able to run on an open browser engine (beware of Chrome #lockin), and hence on open standards, independent of a specific platform like Android or iOS.
With GNOME Web, you can install a website as a Web App.

Helaas kiezen ze met Bluesky voor een platform dat niet gedreven wordt door publieke waarden, dat niet decentraal is en waar investeerders op termijn rendement willen maken en waar moderatie in handen van een bedrijf is :-(
Bij wijze van spreken een beetje de flexitarische optie terwijl er ook een vegan optie beschikbaar is.

Ik vind dat Kamerleden er zelf over gaan op welke social media ze actief zijn. Maar, graag zou ik Kamerleden actief op Mastodon zien. Zeker Kamerleden die ik zeer waardeer.
Ik heb me er als PvdD-lid wel voor ingezet om de Partij voor de Dieren als partij te motiveren op Mastodon actief te zijn.

@mihamarkic@mastodon.social Yes, but the FOSS itself is not hosted. If you use for example #PureOS you just install it on your phone (or other device). It is self hosted on your device, so not under US jurisdiction.
So, using a US cloud provider means US jurisdiction, which I also do not want to fall under for my data.
But for example, I self host #Nextcloud, and use that with PureOS on my #Librem5 (and other computers). This is perfectly fine even regarding the fact that PureOS is not EU based.

The point I tried to make is that there is a good alternative for apps: PWA's.
I was reacting on the phrase: "I really like apps though".
My statement about Chromium is because I sometimes see sites that do not work well with LibreWolf. PWA's should not use proprietary parts of browsers.

Thanks, but let me add to this: if you use a host in e.g. the EU, but the company providing the host is a US company, you are still under US jurisdiction. So it is not the location of the host that is important, but the jurisdiction of the company providing the host.

I personally never use the PureOS store, because it does not work well. I had the same problem with GNOME Software on other distributions.
Sure, things can be improved, but I think that "the developers have no respect..." is not a fair statement to people working hard on providing mobile Linux distributions like PureOS.
Did you enable suspend? And did you install the Crimson version of PureOS?

You can take a totally optional #PureOS subscription though: https://puri.sm/posts/pureos-optional-subscription-added-to-advance-development/ Such subscription will help funding the advancement of PureOS. Which in the end will also help the #MobileLinux eco system.

Thanks for perseverance and and writing down your difficulties. Did you use the original USB power supply that came with the Librem 5? I think I have seen the ad infinitum cyclus you described as well a few times when the Librem 5 was very low on battery. But I think that the original USB power supply should provide enough power for the flashing process.

Thanks for the correction. I guessed that LibreWolf (Firefox) would be standards compliant. The key message should be: based on open standard api's (and do not let the open standards be hijacked by monopolists).
