Especially with the "justification" she gave, the old rape culture chestnut "[she] decided to wear that short skirt", implying that makes her fair game and solely responsible for being upskirted. Rowling is scum.

That would mean the employer has to make sure things are done according to the GDPR, including explicit agreement of everyone recorded before the recording starts, I guess. So as soon as anyone in the office uses such glasses, report the company because there is no way this can be compliant.

Absolutely, but at that time in the USSR the bus windows would have been low quality sheet glass, not the layered and often curved stuff you find on today's cars and buses. Today he wouldn't have stood a chance breaking a window under water without tools.
But anyway, what a feat!

They don't "destroy knowledge they don't control", they use whatever printed texts they can find to train their fancy autocomplete machines. They buy, scan and destroy one copy each of the gazillions of mediocre books taking up space in second hand bookshops. Books that are hardly ever sold otherwise. Nothing unique or irreplaceable. They are not destroying knowledge in any meaningful way.

Interessant. Oder eher: Die übliche Doppelmoral.

And now imagine an elderly Dem senator died suddenly and the Dem governor appoints a replacement (a Dem, of course). Certain people would scream unfair loud enough to wake up Mitch McConnell, I'm sure.

"sondern einfach (aus sicherer Distanz) meldet"
Grundsätzlich einverstanden. Dumm nur, wenn man zu den Leuten gehört, denen sowas aus sicherer Distanz gemeldet wird und die dsnn nah ranmüssen. Ordnungsamtler gleich nur noch mit Polizeischutz loszuschicken wird kaum gehen...

"the AI and robot singularity is 10 years away"
Sure, like the real "Full Self Drive" that's always just around the next corner. Why anyone should take any "predictions" this clown makes seriously, given his track record of broken promises, is beyond me.
@ChuckMcManis@GeePawHill
But that is not the sort of fraud Republicans are worried about. They want to make sure noone cheats an extra bottle of aspirin out of the system.

For me, it's the opposite: Reading out loud (and having something read out loud by someone else) doesn't help comprehension at all.
Only when I'm writing text, reading a bit out loud helps me find out whether that specific way of putting things works or whether I should rephrase it.
@N0libri@chaos.social@Lazarou@mastodon.social
Why doesn't he let Claude or some other LLM of the day whip up a nice and easy step-by-step guide? (Remember to tell the auto-complete thingy to avoid git references!)
@TwraSun@mastodon.social

Another reason to never use loyalty cards or the apps many stores/chains are (at least in Germany in the last maybe two years) rather aggressively promoting. You get some cheap deals out of it, but you end up being squeezed.
@ChuckMcManis@GeePawHill
I agree, that type of fraud would not be affected much by the introduction of universal healthcare. To stop that sort of thing would require better oversight and, I guess, a better setup of the recognition and payment processes.
Bitte keine Fahrräder abstellen!
Endlich stellt mal jemand die richtige Frage. Verbote brauchen eine sachliche Begründung. Das alte Muster - Wieso? reicht nicht. Ich meine, da kann ja jeder kommen! Warum also soll man hier keine Fahrräder abstellen?

Sure, but not to help anyone but to make his troops more warriorlike. And, even if that is most likely just a side-effect, flaunting gender affirming care publicly while the administration does everything possible to deny that to the people who woule really need it and who would really benefit from having access to hormone therapy.
@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social
Hm, nobody took memory cards, CDs, DVDs, BlueRays away. I've still got mine, and you can still buy them.
The problem is, we (or too many of us) were stupid enough to get rid of thst stuff and start relying exclusively on cloud storage, streaming and subscriptions.

The important thing isn't who can drink more but who gets the better (i.e. more spectacular) mental blackouts during a binge. The jury might need some time for deliberation.
