I saw my aunt this weekend. I always admired her growing up: she was a dedicated dancer, bird watcher, traveler, and general arts-enjoyer. I took up ballet and piano because I wanted to be just like her. I just found out that she started all of those hobbies after she got sober in her 40s, shortly before I was born. Her defining characteristics, in my eyes, have occupied less than half of her life. It was a nice reminder that you can start a new chapter of your life whenever you’d like.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org even if this is legit, the sound of ammunition is pretty unnerving. I hope they gave more warning than this. I've heard training near the SD Naval Base and it shook me even though I knew exactly what it was and that there was nothing more going on. But I'm also suspicious about this. Why do this over Pasadena? I don't think there's any base near there? Surely the LA AFB would do operations over the ocean like what I've seen from Coronado, just because it's closer if nothing else? weird.

@sinituulia one of mine does. When she’s cuddly, she’ll reach out, curl her paw around my fingertip, and knead it a few times before just “holding” my hand for a while. She does it very gently, unlike her normal kneading. It’s so cute but I have no idea where it came from, none of her 3 sisters do anything like it.

I have a friend who self-hosts a lot of his stuff and lets us all piggyback on his efforts, and I’m so grateful because it’s like a foreign language to me. It just doesn’t click. And I help him with the things I’m good at and enjoy doing that just don’t click for him. “Just do this thing that’s hard for you, it’s so easy” helps no one.

I know there’s guides but I’m starting at 0, and frankly I don’t want my scarce time and energy to go towards learning it. Especially when I see a post full of terminology I’ve never encountered coupled with “it’s so easy.” It’s not, to me and many others!

Lately my cats have been doing that thing where they group together and stare like O_O - so some critter I can’t see must be nearby. I can’t tell what it is and it’s eluded them for a few days.

Just now one cat, snuggled up with me with her back to the wall and her motor running, suddenly jolted up & ran across the room and onto the shelves to stare at the wall. I still see nothing. Now I’m wondering if they can hear spiders/centipedes/other crawlies? What are you, little critter??

The agents have discretion to try to keep the kids safe. There are a lot of homophobic people who think gay men are pedophiles and who hate Democrats. There’s not a lot of reason for Buttigieg to fabricate a story like this. I don’t think we need to jump to zebras from these hoofbeats.

They held to their resistance even as the state punished them by dispersing peaceful legal protests, firing professors, silencing senators. Dems (including the candidate) rejected them and refused to support their resistance. Fascism divided us and many Dems obeyed in advance, accepting state overreach towards some in favor of their own causes. We cannot do that going forward. We protect everyone.

It looks worse if someone can say the ~Deep State protects Democrats~ or whatever. He let the cop in because he’s a white lib who likes cops & doesn’t feel threatened by them. CPS isn’t going to tell him the specific allegation before interviewing the kids, so that he can’t coach them.
