Healthcare organizations generally have mask policies, and most policies I’ve seen require providers to wear a mask if a patient requests it. It is quite possible that this doctor was violating their facility’s policy. If you have the time and energy, I hope you will report this through whatever mechanism they have for collecting patient feedback. The places I’ve worked take that feedback seriously.

Just finished reading Ursula K. Le Guin’s Book of Cats. This is a very cute little collection of her poems, drawings, and comics about cats. My favorite was “Entanglements” (pages 49-52).

Light rail finally connects Seattle to Bellevue and the east side of the lake! I haven’t ridden yet. I’m tempted to get some hair curlers and flip flops to wear on my first train trip to Bellevue, just to spite Kemper Freeman Jr.

@moira I live real close to Harborview trauma center. We get a few low-flying helicopters a week on their way to/from the hospital. They’re loud, but brief. It’s fine. By the time you notice the loud noise, it’s already starting to pass.
We also get news helicopters and the King County Sheriff’s helicopter. They stay a little bit higher, but sometimes hover for hours. Those are the helicopters I hate with a passion.

@GeePawHill When I developed type 1 diabetes, I was really mad about how much work I have to do every day to keep myself alive. It’s like a whole job on top of the job I do for paid employment! “People with chronic illness should be paid a stipend for all the time they have to spend on their own care,” I fumed. Then I realized what I really want is for everyone to have Universal Basic Income.
