Stray kitten report 4: Breaking news! Plot twist. Charlie wasn't alone... He has a sibling, we suspect a little sister. Geminis! Also, a black mother. I knew it, but they were always both standing far far away, hiding, not even approaching, waiting the night to get food. But it's changing, they are influenced by the behavior of Charlie (a lot of progress, esp. our play times). Today, I could approach little sis' too. However, the mother, still impossible! a real shadow! #catsofmastodon

Stray kitten report 2: yesterday, first petting session accepted! But as soon as the little one saw it was coming from my hand, it was a shock. (hilarious) We're making progress. No photos this time, so I sketched a quick comic to remember it and share with you. #catsofmastodon

Stray kitten report 3: Progress! Charlie ( yep, a name now, and also, pretty sure he's a little male) accepts gentle petting, sort of, though sudden moves and my phone still spook him. I tried to capture three video sequence, but it is still difficult. He's now meowing for food in broad daylight, and that's a change over the last weeks: before, our 'meeting hour' was only at dusk or night. Our routine: eat, pet while eating, then play time chasing a stick. Then he walks back. #catsofmastodon

RE: https://digipres.club/@RoxPoNinja/117319585022581130 Here is an on-going effort of highlighting and preserving my digital paintings & webcomics for future generations by the BnF ( Bibliothèque Nationale de France, I could translate to 'National Library of France'). They contacted me approx. a year ago, and it's truly a huge honor and support. Thank you. Archiving open culture matters. 💙

TIL after 70 weekly comics: Drawing faster, or a faster painting technique doesn't necessary lead to a better productivity and good ratio of artworks I love compared to my time spent on them with my stylus in hand. But I did the mistake of believing this, stubbornly, and for long. However, a boring technique, even slower, but one you can split in steps, trust, and predict, eliminates many bottlenecks: freezing, endless redos and stress. This leads to a better productivity and peace of mind.

Thanks for the support! Funny thing I wanted to plug here: I've never received comments like that here on the Fediverse :fediverse: , but I get dozens of them, weekly, on the Meta platforms (Facebook/Instagram)... I'm really grateful for how this community checks artists' work and actually verifies it's real human art before throwing random accusations. This is my favorite place to share for a reason. 💜

Last review of the season, and let's go to the point: it's a bad model. I don't recommended this one. I'm not even submitting the video to Gaomon for review before posting because I know they would ask me to not post it (it happened in the past with another brand). But I think it should be also known, that's my role in reviews: cover the bad and the good.

I'm sorry. Yesterday I reshared Morevna's derivation animation without considering (because unaware) their support to Russian state propaganda during the Ukraine war (src: see https://awawa.club/notice/B8KQeteAjwfTJAYUEq or comments under my boost). I let flattery, and my familiarity to this team blinds me, and boosted without studying it. That was a mistake. To clarify: I don't support that AT ALL. Thank you to those who pointed this out. I apologize for not thinking critically and will do better next time.

AI is making me unable to enjoy art properly sometimes
@Numerfolt@kirche.social @peritia@alovely.space Hey, don't worry, I totally got the feeling Peritia expressed about my style. (got hundreds of comments like that on proprietary social medias). I start to realize the footprint/influence of my art on genAI is massive, its visible in very early model, ("high quality comic" labels), and more than 16 years of high resolution crawled and trained. esp. because all was CCBy and convenient to show visual in reviews and papers.

@grim_elsewhere@lgbtqia.space @HauntedOwlbear@eldritch.cafe Hey, I haven't tested the third generation yet. But I have the Artist 12 3rd gen in my queue for test, so I'll quickly see what's different from the 2nd gen (the Artist Pro 16 gen2 has now a FLOSS udev-hid-bpf). My assumption for https://www.xp-pen.com/product/artist-16-3rd.html : stylus will be recognized plug and play as a generic Microsoft Surface: it will work (coordinate/tilt/pressure) but hardcoded 2nd barrel button to an eraser mode. Button on the frame will not work. (1/2)

But, I'm someone, I think, who is ready to study. So, if you are motivated voicing against them, I understand your reasons, and encourage you to produce documents that explain to people like me why it's so problematic. Numbers, their effects, so we can measure the gravity of the act. Thank you.

@TopazRabbit@oldbytes.space Honestly, I never was able to "touchscreen" and "paint" at the same time on GNU/Linux with Krita. Wayland/Qt/ and Plasma are still just a large pack of bug about it. A bit funny knowing some O.S. do this type of interaction like Ipad Pro since... 15 years almost? But here, the touchscreen just froze and die as soon a stylus comes in proximity 😆 The hardware is good, the software... "Not there yet" as I say on the review.

@white_paper @zmicier@polyglot.city Honestly, I would need to learn more about this animation they participated; their role, what propaganda it is to be a bit more expert on the topic and get an opinion. But I don't have the time, nor language skill. I met the Morevna IRL in 2012 at LGM madrid. It has been 14 years, they have been around FLOSS, they published many time what they did for FLOSS. I saw documentary they made of their humble indi studio. They gained my trust. (1/2)

@nina_kali_nina@tech.lgbt Good luck with that. If it makes you feel better, it still happens to me even though I'm 45 and have been drawing and painting every day since I was 11. Here's a (unsolicited, sorry) pro tip: keep two sketchbooks. Use one for training and experimenting, secret, and use the other for fun drawing. Don't try in it to draw better or be more than your actual skill. Just enjoy expressing. For a long time, I felt frustrated combining the two activities. So, I share this, now.
