@randahl I don’t know Nostr, but the screenshot you shared had an ActivityPub symbol next to your name or post. ActivityPub is the foundation of the Fediverse. Anyone can implement the Fediverse protocol, and subscribe to you, receive updates from your account, etc. I’ve implemented ActivityPub a few times. Are they a good Fedi citizen? I can’t say. Are they just feeding off the content produced here? Maybe.

@emilyyoung@tech.lgbt Does it have to be a jet? Why not just a single engine, twin or quad seater? Plenty of fun to be had, minimal cost (in comparison to a jet). And you get to learn to fly yourself instead of paying someone to have all the fun!

@randahl Why do you see this as different than, say, another Mastodon server? For example, your profile is available here https://theatl.social/@randahl@mastodon.social and here https://pnw.zone/@randahl@mastodon.social (I just picked two random servers from the mastodon website). But it doesn’t have to be Mastodon. Anything in the Fediverse can display your information and profile. Why do you feel there is a legal issue with this? It’s only your content. They’re not impersonating you.

@ojs@c.im @europeanspodcast@mastodon.social He was part of Fidesz before starting his own party, so the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. As long as he is more Euro-positive, it’ll be better. We should also remember that Orbán started off as a lefty, and slowly crept into the far right as a way to maintain power.

@mczachurski Fully agreed. I’ve started on education and trying to identify the *human* logical pitfalls. We are so willing to recognise intelligence that we completely ignore when it is fully stupid. I have people in my team arguing for absolutely brain dead solutions because it was suggested by Claude. And I have to make sure I’m actually talking to them because written communication just ends up being me arguing vs an LLM who has been told to “prove me wrong”.

While paying for our brunch at The Laudromat Café, my wife pushes around on some of the bobble heads on display. She looks at one and asks, “Who’s that?”
“That’s Mr T.” Not seeing any recognition, I continue “You know, the A-Team? ‘I pity the fool!’” I say in my best Mr T-esque voice.
“Oh. I thought that was Gandalf,” my wife dearest replies whimsically, causing the bartender and myself to lose our absolute minds.

@wesdym @pattykimura A professional vacuum cleaner? Who uses home appliances? The problem with asking tradies/pros is that 90% of the time they use products that are way overkill for home use (a tradie carpenter won’t tell you to get Ryobi brushed, and yet they’re fine for 99% of the homeowners). The other 40% they’re using a brand because that’s what the person taught them was using. They swear it’s the best but have never used anything else.

@stefanlindbohm@mastodon.social @chuuchuu@toot.community Why Copenhagen? I don’t believe we have separate train lines. I think what is meant is that two train stations are not connected by rail, so you’re forced to take a taxi or bus to continue your rail journey. I’m trying to think but I don’t believe Copenhagen fits that category, does it?

@82mhz I was able to confidently pick the WAV on 4/5 of the songs. Maybe luck? The only one where I couldn’t hear a difference, guessed, and got it wrong, was the Ennio Morricone one. Fascinating! Would love to do more testing.

@apzpins I’d be genuinely interested in knowing how long the 3DP part last compared to the metal one. I’m guessing it’s not the weak spring that generated the metal fatigue, but the repeated solenoid impacts?

@SwiftOnSecurity@infosec.exchange My recommendation for years for regular people is to use a password manager and to write down the credentials to said password manager and just store it with their taxes. A thief wants cameras, cash and jewellery. They don’t sit and read through documents. The PM (slightly) improves on phishing, enables good password hygiene. The writing down reassures and enables a strong password to be used for the vault.

@infosecdj@infosec.exchange To be ready to contribute as a productive member of society at 7:00, why of course! Your body yearns for labour. Your mind, restless from pointless and needless relaxation, is desperate to subjugate itself under the great liberator, the great equaliser, Hard Work! Nietzsche surely would agree with me (/s). For he once said: “And once you are awake, you shall remain awake eternally”. Or was that Machiavelli? Another night owl.

@ericwastl@hachyderm.io As someone who regularly drives for multiple days to go spend Christmas with family, this is a very welcome change. I had gotten used to solving the puzzles in my head and then writing down solutions at pit stops, but it was quite stressful. Good job on not being beholden to the laws of old. May this new era of AoC bring many more players.

I remember a time when I was excited about a new Google product launch. They usually had the “beta” sticker for years. The innovation, the ruthless uncompromising drive for doing things that were technically good.

I miss those days (not just Google’s).
