Thankfully I finished Deltarune Chapter 5 this morning, right before the Undertale/Deltarune meet up at #anthrocon, so I won't be spoiled by all the [REDACTED].
Krita 5.3 really shines for comic production. I can do everything in one app now.

@datarama@hachyderm.io @davidrevoy@framapiaf.org I have two XP-Pen tablet displays that both work great in Linux on KDE. I haven't tried the non-display versions. The tablet buttons (either built-in or via a Bluetooth dongle) aren't easily configured without the proprietary driver (and if you're in this thread you know why).
I cracked open some 2010s-era Prismacolor alcohol markers I had in an art box. Two of them, a pair of cool greys of different %s, still worked, and one has become a colorless blender after all this time...and woof are they stinky compared to my Ohuhus. I don't even know if I knew what kind of marker I was buying back then, I just knew they came in different greys.

@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org aaaa touchscreen too! That's the one thing I miss with my 22" XP-Pen vs. my Galaxy Tab for Krita. I've survived with my custom macropad, but I do miss being able to zoom and rotate with my fingers.

@krita Being mid-comic production I downloaded the 5.3 beta right away. It's so much nicer than 5.2 for comics! Doing panels with consistent gutters and the text layout goes so much faster, especially reflowing text to fit a panel. The little popup palette at the bottom of a selection area was a nice surprise too. Great work all, can't wait to see the final 5.3 release! #krita #comics #mastoart

@santi@gone.lema.org I believe WinUAE can take tablet events? I tried FS-UAE with my USB to serial adapter and it didn't like it. MiSTer with that adapter is my preferred setup, tbf.

@davidrevoy Cool! I just fired up Scribus again to lay out a minicomic, something I haven't done in almost two decades in that software. It worked great, even printing spreads direct to my printer!

@davidrevoy I used a lot of Quark back in the day as well. I was in college when DTP was really taking off, so I used Quark for just about everything page layout-wise. I had switched to FOSS art tools for personal work around the time my job no longer required DTP, and I eventually automated my minicomic workflow using some Ruby and command line tools. But for this recent one-off, I didn't want to dust off that now-decade old code and I just used Scribus instead.
