@siracusa@mastodon.social i love that clip, and i wish i'd thought to just go up and shame people like that.  i can guarantee you'd get the same applause to the guy from the town agreeing that they were doing 3a without actually allowing any new housing at our meeting. sadly, ours are not as lively, most of the time, anyway. https://youtu.be/OnEDgGjFy4o?si=4uF_m92pOigpGeaA

@jeffluszcz dear lord, I remember buying newtons there 25 years ago.

@packetcat@tenforward.social fwiw, i've got it installed on a macbook, and there's no changes to my hosts file.

@cwebber@social.coop dear god, i knew SO was taking a beating, but that chart the post linked to was _bleak_.

@mjd And a nice side effect is you have at least one other person who knows what the new/updated code does, and why.

@mcc @esm @thisismissem for the record, thanks hunting all this stuff down, parsing it out, and explaining it.  it's really helpful.

@zkat yeah, i switched to it when i left octodon, and it's been ridiculously, almost cartoonishly easy to run.

@Kir @infobeautiful also how in the hell do you omit chicken?

@plaindocs@chaos.social @jaredwhite@indieweb.social https://techcrunch.com/2026/03/19/bluesky-announces-100m-series-b-after-ceo-transition/ note the phrase "led by Bain Capital Crypto"

@mhoye@cosocial.ca yep.  i started with slackware, everyone always complained it was too similar to a bsd anyway.

@jonathangulbrandsen@gigant.social @baldur@toot.cafe i mean, they won't even show me what parts are available, never mind prices, without entering a serial number on your second link. that is not especially encouraging. the battery procedure on the second link requires an iphone display press tool you have to rent from them, which is objectively insane. i've done a handful of battery replacements on intel macbooks using ifixit's instructions...it's annoying but doable with "just" a set of specialty driver bits. i'm very comfortable saying that requiring a tool rental from apple to replace just the battery puts it in "you cannot repair this yourself" territory, no matter what apple claims. and he said there wasn't an apple store in iceland, not that you couldn't ship it off overseas. i'm going to go out on a limb and guess that shipping to/from iceland is not going to be cheap.

@jonathangulbrandsen@gigant.social @baldur@toot.cafe i see a grand total of 2 repair centers in all of iceland, MacLand and Skakkiturn EHF, both unsurprisingly in reykjavik. am i missing something? and the guy writing the post explicitly says he went to an apple-authorized repair center (which i'm guessing would also describe the two in reykjavik), and they told him apple won't let them do it. maybe the shop has old information? but if so, holy shit is apple doing a bad job of communicating with those shops.

@faraiwe@mstdn.social @SwiftOnSecurity@infosec.exchange @faraiwe@mstdn.social @SwiftOnSecurity@infosec.exchange and racism. which, i suppose, is all included in the british stuff.

@rcombs@social.treehouse.systems @NanoRaptor@bitbang.social yeah, my snowblower was completely unusable after a summer with gas sitting in it.  had to have it cleaned out before it would run again.
