I'm back on the job hunt! If anybody's looking for a remote (Seattle) senior software engineer with a decade of experience in media processing, networking, security, and low-level native development, hit me up. #GetFediHired

I reached out to Media Do's Investor Relations department, and have received some useful clarifications regarding the function of their in-house MDTS software. I am now much more confident in their acquisition of Seven Seas Entertainment.

Disclosure: I have a small long position in Media Do.

every time the idea of non-ASCII usernames and identifiers comes up, I see a bunch of english speakers talking about how terrible it is that so many systems limit usernames to ASCII and that it's an equitably problem for diverse userbases, and then I look over at actual CJK systems and communities and they all use ASCII for identifiers, and absolutely nobody uses the non-ASCII name support that *does* exist (eg IDN domains) because the UX is intrinsically awful

It has none of the negative features you'd expect of a gacha adaptation and instead simply has characters with an unyielding drive to surpass their own limits, and conveys that with a pure electric intensity that makes their frenetic energy feel contagious.

It's kinda crazy how good this movie is; it feels like a gacha game adaptation has no earthly right to be anywhere near this level. But it strips away every layer of complexity and drills down into the very core of sports fiction, through the extremely simple and accessible endeavor of Running Fast.

Replying to

@mcc@mastodon.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems yeah I've got a branch laying around that does it sufficiently small TASes can also be pre-programmed into the fpga directly, though "sufficiently small" here means "far too small to actually, like, get into gameplay"

look, if you showed up for your first day at a new school, and a girl voiced by aoi yuuki saw you were having trouble, flashed you a brilliant smile, and offered a hand, you'd imprint hard on her too

@ariadne@social.treehouse.systems @ireneista@adhd.irenes.space so I guess a fairly normal wayland environment exists under this, but it only ever has one window, which is always fullscreen, and the entire X environment gets composited into that?

Replying to

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems my primary setup reads off a microSD card, so if the host machine dies, it can just keep running hostless until it reboots that said, I wanna have as much off-the-shelf hardware supported for TAS replay as possible; other people regularly use my replay software

Replying to

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems yeah, it works well locally, and I've streamed with it a couple times; just hasn't been my primary device since it needs the TAS file to be streamed in over USB, and I trust the embedded hardware a lot more than I trust the host machine
