8 nights of hostel accommodations have been booked in the #CanadianRockies for mid-May. Hostel accommodation is climbing in price, but the location is spectacular, so I'll pay the fees. Jasper was in the original plan, but I'll head down through Nordegg instead, my preferred route.

It's only been 5 weeks since the Coronation Park Sports & Leisure Centre opened in #YEG, which includes the renovated 50-metre Peter Hemingway Aquatic Centre. I'm going to try to visit weekly, only $3.50 if I visit between 11:30 and 1300. After falling off the bouldering wall quite quickly, I purchased a chalk bag. Climbing shoes may be a future purchase but it's a great workout even if I'm only on the wall for a couple of minutes!
Fabulous weightroom, and I'm thrilled to be using a barbell again. There is a spin studio (and an indoor velodrome!!) so I'm tempted to do a cycling workout from Fitness+. There is a stand that would fit my iPad.
The usage of this facility was delightfully diverse today! Plenty of seniors like me, immigrants from around the globe, high school students, and adult special needs programs. Also, #YEG has built swimming pools adjacent to nearly every high school in the city, with libraries, transit centres, and recycling stations nearby. Excellent urban design.

@mel Excellent choices, everyone!! When Life Gives You Tangerines is the most memorable show of last year, for sure. And The Art of Negotiation and The Tale Of Lady Ok are also my personal choices, unique stories, told from a fresh perspective. Thanks so much for organizing this fun event. I didn't do the daily challenges, I'm afraid, but I enjoyed the selection. #kdrama#adramalunies2026

@whoosh Which drama had you running for your blankies? There are several good suspense shows that were released in 2025, including #NinePuzzles and #DearX. Several folks recently mentioned a drama from 2020 starring my beloved #JangHyuk and the FL from last year's #IdolI #TellMeWhatYouSaw. It's immediately captured my attention, with 4 episodes consumed today. I'm not a fan of serial killers, but if they must be shown, I can't tolerate them in a romcom, which this doesn't pretend to be. Very interesting role for Jang Hyuk. I think the mystery will keep me intrigued, but one guy they've cast has never played anything but a villain in the many dramas I've seen him in, so I certainly have my suspicions! #kdrama#ADramaLunies2026

@JillsJoy @bougiewonderland Thanks so much to all of my Masto-friends who alerted me to the risk to my instance. I have been aware for some time that there could be problems which might require evacuation, but I've been happy to be part of a local instance. However, there is huge news about our administrator, which seems to require migration in the near future. I was at an out-of-town retreat for the weekend, but I'll do further investigating now that I'm home.

@WTL I'd tell myself to enjoy every moment that your body lets you do this, remember the wonderful people you can do this with, and appreciate all of the races that you're able to be a part of. Eventually, life (or, in my case, knee arthritis) will likely take away this delightful activity.

@commonst@social.vivaldi.net I love it that making bone broth has become one of the things that I do every 2-3 months, with the assorted vegetable ends and carcasses in my freezer. Sometimes, I buy a beef marrow bone to add. The frozen cubes are so excellent to add to almost anything that I cook.

And obviously, that would create other nutrient deficiencies.

@AmeliasBrain That's excellent that your comfort level keeps increasing, and that certainly comes with competence and familiarity with various environments. With racing, I generally just got a quick buzz of nervous excitement at shorter races that I did regularly. For endurance races and open-water triathlon, I'd have sheer terror, running through all of the possible pitfalls in my brain the night before and the morning of the event.

@AmeliasBrain Or not, when it comes to shaking off the nerves. I've heard of many performers who get nervous before every single performance. When I did endurance races and triathlon, I eventually trained myself to look forward to those massive attacks of nerves on race night and morning. I decided that the nerves were a sign that I was rightly pushing myself beyond my boundaries in order to do something bigger and better than I'd previously done. I really miss that. I also had to present in court, and I realized that I loved the nervous aspect of that, since it pushed me to hone my craft and pay close attention to detail.

So far, it's the best of the "cozy" Korean novels that I've read. I don't think that the genre is really my thing, but there was some interesting awareness in the book, and the scenes were familiar from my travels last spring.

@commonst@social.vivaldi.net During my last year in Vietnam, I was offered a full-time position, after rprecarious p/t work. However, I considered the mandatory presence in a massive-open-cubicle workspace every day, and I turned that down. I managed my marking and lesson prep SO much better from the comfort of my chair at home, during blocks of time when I had fewer interesting options available. And, I loved the free time during dayligt hurs when I did that!

My dad kept his car until his death at 97, but he found younger people to drive it for him when he needed to get things. I'm trying to do the same, living right on Whyte, where all essential services are within a kilometre of my place. I love my car, a 2003 Matrix, but I've said for a long time that it's my final car.
