"Driscoll’s berries are on many Canadians’ plates and all over Canadian grocery stores, with their tagline claiming to be “only the finest berries.” But a whistleblower lawsuit in California alleges the finest berries were not sent to Canada: instead, millions of pounds of fruit containing non-compliant levels of pesticides and chemicals crossed the border, and the company tried to cover it up. California resident and former Driscoll’s employee David Harada claims in the lawsuit that by Driscoll’s own estimates, about 50 per cent of all shipments to Canada from 2022 to 2024 had fruit that exceeded Canadian safety levels." https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/whistleblower-allege-driscoll-s-berries-9.7359158 #BuyCanadian

I'm supposed to eat high fiber, low cholesterol as much as possible (I'm not looking for advice unless it's suggestions of easy/delicious recipes). Made some baked oats with Greek yogurt, oat milk, eggs, chia seeds, hemp seeds, Québec wild blueberries and bananas. Breakfast for the week (and more)! #food

My husband hiked to the West Killarney lighthouse while I rested at a cafe, and then drove us about 5 min away from it so I could look at the views too 💜

First ever rose mallow bloom. I knew it made huge flowers, but they're even more impressive than I expected!! (Front yard for these ones, they can grow up to 8 feet tall). There's almost 100 buds right now And nodding onions! #SKyard #Bloomscrolling #NativePlants

We went to Chuck's Roadhouse for the first time because it's right across the street from our hotel and we didn't want to drive.

How is everything so cheap??????

We're (finally) having our new fence done. They're removing the old one today, pouring the concrete tomorrow and coming back on Monday for the actual fence. ... Three days, with us in Québec city, with no fence between us and the demon children from next door. I'm terrified lol

Here you go, we got the yearly complaints about the tramway in Québec City, the too many new bike lanes, and how "we never go to old Québec anymore because there is no more parking". I told my mom that they never went before, surely it wasn't making a big difference and she was like "... Yeah that's true" Lmao they're so ridiculous

"But under the Carney government’s plan to reduce the size of the public service, the [government operations] centre featured in the post had lost about 50 positions, or nearly half its workforce, according to Canada’s largest public sector union. “The government operations centre (GOC) is responsible for coordinating our national emergency response,” Sharon DeSousa, national president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), said in a written statement. “Gutting it by almost half puts people across the country at risk, including frontline workers who are battling wildfires, supporting evacuations, and risking their lives.” The GOC supports emergency preparedness, provides around-the-clock situational awareness and leads the co-ordination of the “integrated federal response to all-hazard events of a national interest.” https://ottawacitizen.com/public-service/government-operations-centre-cuts-wildfires #cdnpoli

No fence at the back of the yard, means eady access to the neighbourhood rabbit! I think it lives in the back neighbour's yard, which is half abandoned.

"Since he launched his campaign, Mark Carney’s position on the French language has been clear: it’s a nuisance. Even now, he continues to treat Canada’s official bilingual status as a problem to solve rather than a point of pride. And francophones across the country are paying the price. Just this month, Carney arranged for one of his constituents – a consultant not registered to lobby the government – to meet with high-level officials and outline his plan to use artificial intelligence and technology to eliminate the bilingualism requirement across the government. His reasoning? AI is ready to handle all that pesky translation work, and we don’t need to invest a penny into making sure Canadians all have access to information of equal quality. Is that really the case? Of course not. Translators have been using AI for years and have incorporated it into their work. But it is far from a magic solution. To ensure consistent quality and accurate translations, human input is still absolutely essential. When we talk about doubling or tripling processing speed, what we are really talking about is lowering quality standards. Even without this consultant in the mix, we were already seeing AI being put forward as a panacea. GCTraduction, the government’s internal tool, was rolled out across several departments as a solution to the “problem” of translation, but instead of helping translators do their jobs, it is replacing them." https://www.acep-cape.ca/en/news/despite-carneys-efforts-canadas-bilingualism-not-problem-solve
