@mattsheffield@mastodon.social a relative with bipolar was using it for a while during an episode and now they are stable realize it was literally feeding their paranoia and amplifying their intrusive thoughts. It's dangerous.

@crankylinuxuser @mattsheffield the problem is it appears to retrain itself because it responds to further prompts as if it understands, this is why people, who are predisposed to anthromorphism, start to believe they have consciousness.

In a bar in Harlem. A majority Spanish area, but a very ethnic mix in this bar. The entire place just went absolutely nuts when Cabo Verde scored. The two guys in Argentinian shirts are looking absolutely bewildered as to the Cabo Verde support. We are here for Pico, but I think the rest of the bar just supports an underdog.
I've been working on this puzzle since shortly after my #NewKnee surgery. I do it while practicing bending my leg. It was one of the most difficult puzzles I've done, resorting to grouping the pieces by shape and then trial and error for the sea and the sky. Even the skyline was harder than you'd expect. But it's done now.

It's not even 7am and it's sticky hot out. I was supposed to go.to.an outdoor disco this evening, I can't see that being in any way comfortable or fun in this.

@wtrmt@mastodon.social @grammargirl@zirk.us it always struck me that LLM writing tends to read the way the Common Core ELA forced teachers to teach kids to write. I hated it. It's formulaic and passionless. But the only way to get them to pass was to teach them generic sentence starters, structural bridging words and how to find and list the evidence in the text. But it makes sense that this cohort of college kids would write like that and so be accused of using AI.
So are we using Epstein to distract from the Iran disaster now? #Melania

Aw. Poor Croatia. My heart goes out to them. I've been watching more games than usual. I have no investment but I feel bad for Germany, Senegal and Croatia. I feel they should have won.

@liamdv4@mastodon.ie it's not so much pain as a band of persistent swelling across the top of my knee that feels tight, and I get quite a bit of cramping in my hamstring and quads which gets uncomfortable sometimes. But I"m very mobile. Can do stairs etc no problem.

@Stoori@polyglot.city in upper Manhattan, all the prewar buildings have elaborate mouldings, gargoyles, fruit and other ornaments and over the years most have been painted to match the brick but I'm sure they used to be gold and colorful, I think it's just that people have only seen black and white photos that they assume they were always plain and dull.
