David Suzuki Foundation: "Carney’s taxpayer-funded pipeline will cause climate and economic chaos" "People in Canada are paying the price — struggling with affordability and suffering through extreme heat — as this government treats yesterday’s fossil economy as the only economic strategy on the table. The rest of the world is racing to benefit from the clean-energy economy by swapping dirty fossil fuels for renewables, batteries and technologies powered by electricity." https://davidsuzuki.org/press/carneys-taxpayer-funded-pipeline-will-cause-climate-and-economic-chaos/ #Canada #CDNPoli #ClimateCrisis #CostOfLivingCrisis #ExtremeWeather #Heatwave #BCPoli #ABPoli #NoPipelines

"Prime Minister Carney’s plan to sell more oil overseas won’t make life more affordable at home. Instead of tackling the climate crisis and investing in the solutions of the future that Canadians need, he is doubling down on costly fossil fuel infrastructure that will only make life harder for Canadians." https://ecojustice.ca/news/ecojustice-another-pipeline-proposal-at-the-expense-of-climate-and-nature/ #Canada #CDNPoli #ClimateCrisis #NoPipelines #BCPoli #ABPoli #ExtremeWeather #Heatwaves #Drought #Flooding

We began debate on C-22, the controversial lawful access bill today. I have a lot of concerns about the threat this legislation poses for our civil liberties, our privacy rights, and our online safety. Among other things, it compels companies to collect hoards of metadata on every Canadian - and then draw a treasure map to help the bad guys find it. Listen and let me know what you think. https://youtu.be/zMkMYeB2EyM?si=QdWQidlNTopcvSHG #cdnpoli #Canada #lawfulaccess #C22

So Elon Musk just let it out of the bag that there are people in the USA including him… which implies, a not-zero number of others in positions of influence… who believe Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec should all separate from Canada. I mean… we’re beyond just one now… he’s essentially saying we should not exist as a country. If every second province “separates” then you quickly become unable to function as a contiguous nation. This is not sovereignty or individiualism. This is a foreign power trying to break its neighbour into swallowable pieces. This shit needs to stop. Oh… and aren’t any Canadians still on Twitter traitors at this point? Or are we still talking about “where the people are”. https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-life/life/sci-tech/2026/10/08/carney-says-canadas-future-up-to-canadians-after-musk-voices-support-for-separatism #Canada #Alberta #Quebec #Saskatchewan #CanPoli #CdnPoli #USA #TheAmericanFascist https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-life/life/sci-tech/2026/10/08/carney-says-canadas-future-up-to-canadians-after-musk-voices-support-for-separatism

The Liberals and Conservatives just voted together to attack labour, environmental, and Indigenous rights to fast-track corporate mega projects. This is the exact same approach the Liberals fought under Stephen Harper. Now, they're bringing back that very same agenda and Harper is cheering from the sidelines. We don’t save Canada by sacrificing our environment and constitutional protections on the altar of private profits. Bill C-39 is an unmitigated disaster, and Canadians will be fighting back. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/article/major-government-economic-legislation-c-39-clears-first-vote/ #canada #cdnpoli #politics #NDP

Alberta doesn’t have an immigration crisis - but it surely faces an economic crisis, if the government succeeds in chasing immigrants and investors away with its racist referendum questions. In the Senate last night, I rose to denounce the scapegoating of migrants, to tell some hard truths, and to laud the economic and social value of newcomers to Alberta, especially for rural renewal. I hope you will share and boost my remarks so that more people can hear them before they vote. https://youtu.be/to7o-4rwHKQ?si=wPe22Rknr7kgu5n4 #cdnpoli #ableg #abpoli #Alberta #Canada #SenateofCanada #immigration

@DanielPatrick@social.vivaldi.net Yes there are a lot of Canadians here, also several instances for us. If you are interested in a list of instances please ask and I will send one. Also following the #Canada or #CDNpoli hashtags will help you find us. I am past retirement age so I understand the desire to keep it simple. 1/2 more 👇

Hoping for the ABNDP to come to the realization that taking Danielle Smith's side on this issue is not the smartest move. The idea that "we must back O&G profiteers because we live in Alberta" is not the kind of governance expected from the under-represented in Alberta. This isn't about Ottawa vs. Alberta. This is about our tax dollars being sunk into private profits at the grave expense of our national resources and environment. Danielle Smith knows that the ABNDP is pro-oil. She didn't post this because she actually believes in what the sensationalized Rebel News-inspired meme says. She posted this because she wants to divide us, knowing that the ABNDP has already taken shots at the Federal NDP, and Avi Lewis specifically, for refusing to support excessive oil extraction and for supporting green alternatives. She posted this because she wants the ABNDP to join her divisive politics against Federal bodies in solidiarty with Alberta Oil. So far, it looks like the ABNDP has taken the bait, by this comment on their repost of Danielle Smith to "prove" that they are on the side of O&G. Let's be clear, they don't need to do that. We already know (whether we agree with it or not), that they are pro-oil. We don't need them unironically repost Danielle Smith to know. Note that neither Avi Lewis nor Ottawa are against Alberta industry. This is what Avi really said: "The oil industry is unwilling to pay for this pipeline because even they know the world is moving away from fossil fuels. This project leaves Canadians bearing all the risks of a bad investment without any of the rewards. Projects that truly serve the national interest would lower costs, create good jobs, protect our environment and prepare us for the green economy of the future." #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli #oil #energy #Environment #climate #climatechange #climatecrisis

Throwing billions in public money behind a pipeline at a time of climate breakdown – while sweeping aside environmental protections, meaningful Indigenous consultation and workers’ right to strike – is absolutely not in the national interest. This is just another gift to an oil industry already on track to make $100 billion in wartime profits this year alone. We pay, we take on the risk, and they reap the rewards. #canada #cdnpoli #pipeline

The rising hate against Indigenous, gender diverse, immigrants, etc. is occurring under Liberal governance. We obviously and minimally need an inquiry into the cancelling of human rights in Alberta and Saskatchewan, but it appears the Lib-Cons aren't doing enough/anything because they are scared of losing votes from their radical new conservative wing. https://youtu.be/EhSS21ZZBxA #CdnPoli

"… in the face of clear evidence of current harm and the substantial likelihood of growing harm in the future, the prudent thing to do would be to reduce fossil fuel use as rapidly and as soon as possible. To fail to do so, and indeed to support fossil fuel expansion through continuing subsidies, weakening of regulations and ongoing private and public investment amounts to reckless disregard." "Clearly the expansionary actions of the fossil fuel industry, governments and private and public sector investors, in Canada and around the world, amount to ecocide." https://www.hilltimes.com/2026/09/24/fossil-fuel-expansion-is-ecocide-a-crime-against-nature-and-humanity/519219/ #Canada #CDNPoli #BCPoli #NoPipelines #ClimateCrisis #Ecocide #BillC39

Canada, Following the Rules, Agreements, borrowing Europe's better ideas <- we're supposed to be good at this? Instead of privatize airports to build Canada, make affordable housing public. Follow Finland's Munifin and subsidize/ guarantee housing finance. No shortage of demand in Canada. Make financing housing less risky than privatizing airports and building pipelines. Follow Austria and Vienna's housing association legislation Have municipalities, worker organizations, and business groups ... collaborate to create affordable housing associations that each benefit from, with solid legislation to prevent compromise and abuse. But Canada's wealthy and well-financed for-profit housing industry will complain loudly and effectively.. “A non-profit housing system in Austria costs taxpayer money but it is a good investment. It reduces the amounts needed for household subsidies, shifts resources from high-income landlords to more construction and economy-wide consumption, it is a net gain for the economy,” #cdnpoli https://www.housingeurope.eu/new-research-from-austria-demonstrates-that-not-for-profit-housing-can-tame-the-housing-market/ https://www.kuntarahoitus.fi/en/who-we-finance/affordable-social-housing https://www.housinginternational.coop/members/osterreichischer-verband-gemeinnutziger-bauvereinigungen-revisionsverband-austrian-federation/
