We began debate on C-22, the controversial lawful access bill today. I have a lot of concerns about the threat this legislation poses for our civil liberties, our privacy rights, and our online safety. Among other things, it compels companies to collect hoards of metadata on every Canadian - and then draw a treasure map to help the bad guys find it. Listen and let me know what you think. https://youtu.be/zMkMYeB2EyM?si=QdWQidlNTopcvSHG #cdnpoli #Canada #lawfulaccess #C22

So Elon Musk just let it out of the bag that there are people in the USA including him… which implies, a not-zero number of others in positions of influence… who believe Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec should all separate from Canada. I mean… we’re beyond just one now… he’s essentially saying we should not exist as a country. If every second province “separates” then you quickly become unable to function as a contiguous nation. This is not sovereignty or individiualism. This is a foreign power trying to break its neighbour into swallowable pieces. This shit needs to stop. Oh… and aren’t any Canadians still on Twitter traitors at this point? Or are we still talking about “where the people are”. https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-life/life/sci-tech/2026/10/08/carney-says-canadas-future-up-to-canadians-after-musk-voices-support-for-separatism #Canada #Alberta #Quebec #Saskatchewan #CanPoli #CdnPoli #USA #TheAmericanFascist https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-life/life/sci-tech/2026/10/08/carney-says-canadas-future-up-to-canadians-after-musk-voices-support-for-separatism

The Liberals and Conservatives just voted together to attack labour, environmental, and Indigenous rights to fast-track corporate mega projects. This is the exact same approach the Liberals fought under Stephen Harper. Now, they're bringing back that very same agenda and Harper is cheering from the sidelines. We don’t save Canada by sacrificing our environment and constitutional protections on the altar of private profits. Bill C-39 is an unmitigated disaster, and Canadians will be fighting back. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/article/major-government-economic-legislation-c-39-clears-first-vote/ #canada #cdnpoli #politics #NDP

#canada Failure to curb global warming now could cost future generations of Canadians trillions of dollars in wildfire impacts alone, according to a new Simon Fraser University study. The study is among the first to put a price tag on projected Canadian wildfire activity driven by climate change https://phys.org/news/2026-10-canadian-wildfires-trillion-21st-century.html #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #ClimateReversal #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate

#canada Despite growing discussion among political observers and environmental advocates about the government’s climate agenda, climate change remains well down the list of issues Canadians want Ottawa focused on right now. Just 13% of Canadians rank climate change and the environment among the top three issues facing the country today https://abacusdata.ca/climate-concern-remains-high-but-affordability-still-dominates-canadians-priorities/ #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #ClimateReversal #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate

#canada the changes made to Alberta’s industrial carbon market are simply not sufficient to put the system on firm footing nationally. In fact, the price of carbon credits in Alberta has actually declined since the MOU was signed. Industrial carbon pricing needed fixing when Carney took office, and it still needs fixing now https://climateinstitute.ca/the-evolving-carney-climate-plan/ #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #ClimateReversal #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate

#canada “With this agreement, the federal government risks doing significant damage to minimum national standards that will have broader impacts on Canada’s climate change efforts. Such standards are essential to maintain economic cohesion and avoid a dysfunctional patchwork of provincial policies with conflicting market signals https://climateinstitute.ca/news/mou-alberta-canada-risks-unravelling-canada-climate-policy/ #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #ClimateReversal #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate

Alberta doesn’t have an immigration crisis - but it surely faces an economic crisis, if the government succeeds in chasing immigrants and investors away with its racist referendum questions. In the Senate last night, I rose to denounce the scapegoating of migrants, to tell some hard truths, and to laud the economic and social value of newcomers to Alberta, especially for rural renewal. I hope you will share and boost my remarks so that more people can hear them before they vote. https://youtu.be/to7o-4rwHKQ?si=wPe22Rknr7kgu5n4 #cdnpoli #ableg #abpoli #Alberta #Canada #SenateofCanada #immigration

#canada What was particularly remarkable this year was the exceptionally rapid rate at which burned area accumulated over a very short period of time. Estimates indicate that approximately 94% of the total area burned occurred during the five weeks between end of June and end of July (CWFIS, 2026) https://www.worldweatherattribution.org/climate-change-canada-wildfires-2026/ #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #ClimateReversal #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate

#FirstNations #Yukon #canada Members of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation have witnessed many changes unfold across the far reaches of their traditional territory in northern Yukon. Tundra grasslands are being replaced by shrubs. Permafrost is thawing at an accelerated rate. Lakes are draining more than in the past. River and lake shorelines are eroding more quickly. And fires are burning within and beyond the boreal treeline https://brocku.ca/brock-news/2026/08/20-years-of-research-shows-how-climate-change-has-vastly-impacted-canadas-north/ #ClimateChange #pollution #ecology #climate
