A tip for users of our experimental instance mementomori.social: You can enable the algorithmic "For you" feed from the top right corner of the Home feed. When you turn it on, it will instantly switch to a ranked feed that prioritizes posts based on who you follow, who you comment on, and what you like or boost. If you also toggle on "Include posts from people you don't follow," you'll see trending content across the Fediverse based on your interests. Unlike Trending tab, For you -feed is personal. The logic is similar to pre-Musk Twitter but user-focused and not corporate-owned. The Trending tab remains unchanged, and /explore shows posts from roughly the past 6-12 hours, with a strong focus on the most recent ones. A post that gets massive engagement might stick around a bit longer, but most cycle out within half a day. Your own For you page changes every time you click the menu, refresh the page, or return. This is ongoing, experimental work. The PR draft and source code are available here: https://github.com/mementomori-social/mastodon/pull/4 #MementoMoriSocial #Mastodon #MastoAdmin #OpenSource #BuildInPublic #Algorithm #AlgorithmicFeed #Algorithms

Hi, I'm Krasen. I build NameDaemon: 18 free tools for .com names, run on a daily snapshot of the whole .com zone. Find names that are really free, score them, watch the ones you can't have yet. No sign-up. I'll post the numbers I find in the zone, how-to posts and plain-English definitions. Ask me anything about domains. https://namedaemon.com/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=nd30 #introduction #BuildInPublic #Domains #IndieWeb

Hi Mastodon 👋 I'm Hideyuki, and I make MEMOROLL alone on Amami Oshima, a small island in southern Japan. MEMOROLL is a notes app for iPhone. Every note keeps its time and place, so your days don't blur into one: look back by day, in a calendar, or on a map where a day's notes become numbered pins. There's no account and no server. Your notes stay on your iPhone. #introduction #MEMOROLL #AmamiOshima #iOS #iPhone #indiedev #privacy #buildinpublic

Hey mstdn.social 👋 I'm building Serpent API — search & AI data infrastructure for developers. We cover: SERP data from 5 engines, AI citation monitoring (Gemini/ChatGPT/Perplexity/Claude), news search, local rank tracking, Reddit & X data. If you build tools, track rankings, or think about what AI search means for the web — I'd love to connect. apiserpent.com #introduction #SEO #API #IndieHackers #BuildInPublic #WebDev #OpenWeb

#BuildInPublic #MacDev #IndieDev #SFSymbols #McKinley I went into the rabbit hole of SFSymbols with the McKinley app two weeks ago. A fantastic app. I forgot that I did not buy it so when the app notified me of the end of the two week trial (with the complete feature set of the app during this period). Easy decision . I bought it. Make it fun to create SF Symbols, instead of the horrer with the Apple app. Do your vector homework though.

Hi Mastodon! 👋 #introduction I'm Albert, a Rubyist building Enkihost: simple hosting for Rails, Sinatra & Jekyll apps. git push → zero-downtime deploy, auto SSL, managed Postgres & Redis. No Kubernetes, no surprise bills. • Jekyll sites: free • Rails/Sinatra: 14-day trial, then 5€/mo I'll be building in public here. Feedback very welcome! https://enkihost.com #Ruby #RubyOnRails #Jekyll #IndieHackers #BuildInPublic

I have released #McKinley 1.3. (McKinley is my Mac app for making and editing SF Symbols.) 1.3 is a huge update behind the scenes, mainly focussing on performance and correctness. It should be a _lot_ faster to work on symbols with complicated knockouts, many paths, etc. There’s one main new feature though, Minimum Internal Radius for strokes. https://mckinleysymbols.com Get McKinley for $60 (no subscription!) or try the fully functional demo. #buildinpublic #macdev #iosdev #sfsymbols #indiedev

Hello everyone! I am GiZano and I am thrilled to join this community! 👋 I'm passionate about backend development and IoT, and I absolutely love open-source projects. In the future, I'll be happy to share my journey through my projects and the open-source world with you. I am currently working on two repositories, if you want to take a look: 🌍 QuakeGuard (https://github.com/GiZano/QuakeGuard) A system for distributed seismic monitoring. 🚀 LevelUp (https://github.com/GiZano/LevelUp) An offline, privacy-first productivity tool. I'll share more about them soon, but you can already check them out and, if you'd like, even contribute! #Introduction #Introductions #OpenSource #Backend #IoT #BuildInPublic #Productivity #React #Android

RE: https://mastodon.social/@dfortes/117338976711091113 In case anyone is interested in trying out ImageFlow, my node-based image editor, I added a free trial version for download. You can get it at https://www.imageflowapp.com I would love any feedback and suggestions! #apple #macos #buildinpublic #indiedev

Hello everyone! I recently did a soft-launch of my macOS app called ImageFlow. ImageFlow is a node-based image editor build for non-linear and nondestructive workflows. I have been working on this non-stop for the past two years and poured my soul on this. I'm currently looking for feedback so I can decide the next steps on the app's development. Get in touch with me if you want a promo-code to test the app. Thanks and have a great day! #Indiedev #macos #macapp #swift #apple

🚀 Building Stoic — an AI Search & Answer Platform

Stoic is an AI-powered search and answer platform I’m building to turn documents, web content, images, and other information into useful, grounded answers. It uses RAG, embeddings, semantic search, and vector databases to retrieve relevant context before generating an answer. The backend is built with Python and FastAPI, with Supabase + pgvector for vector storage and similarity search. I’m also experimenting with LLM model routing, streaming responses, multimodal processing, and LLM-as-a-judge evaluation. The goal is to make AI search more reliable by focusing not only on generation, but also on retrieval quality and evaluation. I’m building Stoic as a hands-on learning project and continuously improving the architecture, performance, and user experience. If you're interested in AI engineering, RAG, LLMs, semantic search, or building AI products, I’d love to connect and hear your thoughts. 🤝

Hello, Mastodon! I'm Nadya, a product builder based in Switzerland 🇨🇭 I write about our family startup and how we try to solve our own problems through products we build. I kept hearing about this place, so I figured I'd try writing here. On other popular platforms the feed is mostly hype, AI slop and algorithms designed to sell things rather than let people have honest discussions. Curious whether it's different here. #introduction #Switzerland #BuildInPublic
