I have come to the conclusion that I think most software developers (please understand I'm probably not talking about anybody I interact with regularly here) either have deeply broken souls or never once considered how "soul" should enter into the endeavour. Either way, the result is the same: Blind fealty to tech and a rugged sense of individualism

the party i threw when Kissinger kicked the bucket and sailed off down the River Styx was excellent, but that was nothing compared to the absolute fucking rager I will throw when the fucking AI bubble finally pops

@wod0bow@mastodon.social @ilumium@eupolicy.social This late in the game in 2026, what is the actual point of responses like this, at a time when the average person deeply fucking hates LLMs and the people who own and control them and their facilities?
Read the fucking room, DEEPLY embed into your heart that LLMs aren't just some neutral project, and have some imagination of what a world without them might look like.

this is gonna sound weird and hyperbolic but interacting with people telling me I gotta use LLMs or be left behind strikes me as being very similar to how I felt coming out as trans to everybody back in 2005. it has been about that long since i have last felt the world at large was this tremendously at odds with what i understood to be reasonable and just

well i've got some good news and some bad news
good news is, i ordered a brand new Apple SuperDrive to put into my G4 Cube as the connector is identical to the one on the original G4 Cube DVD reader
bad news is, while the connector is in the same position, it is rotated 180 degrees
good news is, i have verified that the pinout is identical to the original G4 Cube drive
bad news is, i need to make a PCB just for this
good news is, although trivial, it fulfills the urge to make a PCB

The consensus (at least on LinkedIn anyhow) is that LLM-driven development is the expected default and is the only commercially viable form of development. Does anybody have any compelling reasons that this is NOT the case?
Please note: I'm not asking because I'm looking to have an argument. I'm asking because I feel so utterly fucking hopeless that I will ever be able to get a job as a software developer ever again without having to be forced to use LLMs.

well i've got some good news and some bad news
good news is, the silicone adhesive and roughing up of the shaft worked great
bad news is, i didn't notice the conical nature of the little rubber roller doodads, so the whole assembly is lopsided and i had to do the whole thing all over again
good news is, i did all that last night and the Cube is already reassembled
bad news is, i still need to wait for the newly applied goop to cure
good news is, i am tired
