we saw, but did not catch in time, a post about an, iirc, harvard study showing that claude's boost to productivity is exactly 0 for the reasons you'd expect, can someone link us to the toot / study?

it has no backing in reality. it is only ever right by coincidence because it generates wrong answers by the exact same process. it is inherently unsafe to use because it will generate misinformation and falsehoods because it has no backing in reality, it just outputs probable text. it has no other meaningful use that cannot be better accomplished without it

@mos_8502@studio8502.ca the problem here is that the LLM is an inherently fascist edifice and can only be used to antisocial ends. "local" and "open weight" models are built from the same exploitation and fascist mindset as the commercial ones.

weve had some questions about how we make our #neverslop images and for reference we are using:
qemu-emulated mac os 9photoshop 7kai's power toolslayer effectsbong rips
(the bong rips are optional, and if you're more comfortable with windows that's an option too)

folks is it good when the court sends you a document saying
It takes almost no skill and little time to generate AI slop. When a
lawyer files such slop, the lawyer violates the duty to “exercise independent professional judgment.”

@joe@f.duriansoftware.com @pinskia@hachyderm.io Ada has the same problem to us as all the other Pascal-ish languages: every neat idea they have is drowned in the kind of syntax that could only be truly loved by a european cis male. like, we get that this is because of its heritage as a pedagogic language by and for european cis men, but you can also imagine why we would simply not vibe with that, ya know?

macOS Golden Gate Is a Buggy Mess
https://www.squareorbits.com/blog/2026/09/macos-golden-gate-is-a-buggy-mess/
Software quality control has been declining for many years and now, with the rise of LLMs, nobody actually reads code anymore. If it passes automated tests, it gets shipped. Developers receive hundreds of PRs per day generated by LLMs. How can anyone review all of them? Rubber stamp it. Everyone is simply trusting what these "black box machines" say and shipping the code. Even FLOSS is not free from this mess now.
