My God, #moths are so freaking cool! I mean, how can you not be amazed by the Cecropia Silk Moth? https://www.insectidentification.org/insect-description.php?identification=Cecropia-Silk-Moth

Always remember that whenever you're feeling bad, whatever that bad feeling is, it'll either soon pass, or you'll find/remember the tools you need to handle those feelings. You're stronger than you realize. #MentalHealth
Anyone have recommendations for a field guide type book for #moths and #butterflies that also tells you what to plant to attract them? Specific to the Mid-Atlantic region or the southeastern U.S.? I’m currently in the middle of helping my Mom re-do parts of her garden to make it more friendly to native pollinators.
Much appreciated!
The horrors persist but so do I.
For some reason whenever I’m having a bad time and friends aren’t available to talk, I always end up at Barnes and Noble or a bookstore. Being around books is comforting for some reason, I think the chill vibes of bookstores calms my nerves. Anyway, all that to say, I bought two books: “Selected Poems of Robert Frost”, and “Planting in a Post-Wild World."
I’ve never really been super into poetry, but it seemed like something that would lift my spirits. And the latter book because I’m looking at perhaps starting my own garden design consulting business at some point.
Me, this afternoon: "I'll go home, get cleaned up, have dinner, then go out to karaoke and have a good time!"
Also me, after a shower and dinner: "Ehhh....nah. Reading and journaling it is!" 😜
This year's #allergies are the worst I've ever had. It's really making me want to just stay inside all day and sleep. 😷🤧
Holy moley the color on this autumn fern! 😍
I'm so ready to be done with The Pollening, and having yellow dust stuck in my throat 😷🤧 Nasty business!
Proud of my state this evening! Virginia isn’t taking sh*t from Donald Trump.
The nursery I work at held its annual "open house" day today (20% off everything) and it was slammed busy, which is great because overall sales are down from pandemic levels. It's always interesting to see the generational difference as to who goes for what types of plants. Seniors love their boxwood hedges and "green meatballs" while millennials tend to be way more interested in color and different growth habits (weeping, narrow/upright, variegated, etc.)
Interest in invasives like barberry, Burning Bush, Miscanthus, etc. continues to decline thankfully. Our best sellers have been Itea virginica (Sweetspire), Clethra alnifolia (Sweetpepper bush), and winterberry holly. #plants
Why are people not flooding the streets and shutting down business as usual to protest this INSANE war in Iran that clearly was designed just to keep media attention away from the fact that the president is a rapist pedophile? Like, yes, the No Kings protests but WAY more people should be outraged. Protests in the U.S. are puny compared to what I see in Europe.
I find it really amusing that rental prices are so much more reasonable as soon as you look outside of #Virginia. Like, what the hell is making Virginia one of the most expensive places to live on the east coast? My guess would be proximity to D.C. and all the defense contractors and whatnot in northern Virginia.
Had no trouble finding rooms for rent at attainable prices literally anywhere else, lol!
