I am an acrobat and a dancer who just happens to be trans. I've been fortunate enough to be in spaces where that last bit is mostly irrelevant.

However, the degree to which the world generally has its head up its ass about this kind of thing does make me want to drop in a word or two about it sometimes.

There's an article from the Associated Press a couple of days ago that I think may be worth reading, because I think it shows just how absurd all of this has gotten.

The representatives of the state -- like West Virginia's attorney general -- come off, to me, as pedantic, obsessed antis on TikTok, blowing up problems and shoving them into the zeitgeist.

This sort of stuff hurts. It won't stop me, or anyone with dedication, from achieving more, from finding the joy in movement and the rush of achievement.

But I think it does show the sort of perverse degradation in the minds of people who think using the power of the state like this is okay. They're sick, creepy motherfuckers, and if you can "see their point", maybe you are too.

I’ve posted this elsewhere, but I wanted to mark it here too. It’s ship day 🎉

I’ve helped shipped a couple of other products, but this is by far the biggest one and I’m riding a pretty big high right now. Congrats to everyone involved!

Dolores Flow had a good time in the SF Pride Parade! Attached is a video clip (from ABC7) of both our contingent as well as Bee Here Now, another contingent that we collaborated with. (We were with Heavy Petting Zoo too, but the resulting clip was too large for Mastodon.)

There's a lot of shitty policy going around right now, and at least in the US it's clear the timing with Pride was deliberate because we have an administration of Internet trolls. It's nice, however, to have a very tangible reminder that there's a sizable number of people who don't subscribe to that.

My first time was last year; looking forward to this one too! Especially now that I know what they have on site I can save myself some overpacking…

today I found out that Britt Lower (who plays Helly R in Severance) made a movie about finding self-love and running away with a circus.

it's online at https://www.circusperson.com and (probably for obvious reasons) I really liked it! you should check it out too

edit: as of 2023-12-24 circusperson.com went offline for some reason, but the film can still be accessed via Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/599009566

For those keeping away from Facebook (totally understandable):

If you're in the Bay Area, every Sunday there's weekly partner acro/flow arts meetups on the flat field at the bottom of Dolores Park. (The field faces the rear of the Mission Dolores Basilica.). These typically go from 1-4 PM, though the end time varies. Any experience level is welcome! I in particular am happy to teach contact leviwand and flower stick basics.

This week the subject of A DocumenTree is dropping by to play, so if that sounds like your thing feel free to drop by :)
