mastodon 4.7.3I'm French and after living in Taiwan for 15 years, I'm now based in Lyon, France. I speak French, English, Mandarin and some Spanish.
Working at Canonical to make sure Ubuntu Linux works as well as possible on a wide range of devices (laptops, servers, IoT devices, etc.).
Thoughts expressed here are my own :)

@nedbat@hachyderm.io "No, but how long did it take you?"
I'll never be done learning! There's always something new to learn, either with the language itself, or with the way to design a system, or with the surrounding tooling, or with the domain you're working for. It's never ending, and that's frankly what keeps our work interesting, isn't it?

@nathandyer@hachyderm.io I had the same issue. You have to move your cursor to the very bottom/top of the screen otherwise it doesn't auto-scroll.

@tut_tuuut Hmmmpf. Mais pour ma défense, je n'ai que 100 minutes de jeu à mon actif, me dit Steam.

@jimmac@mastodon.social wait what? You have a website where you can buy films and they allow you to download a file?!? That's amazing!
I don't think that exists in France ...

@kenney yes please! It looks great and I'm curious how it was implemented (I know close to nothing in game dev...)

@CoMaps@floss.social I love that app, it's really handy on my phone, thanks to the good data from OSM (especially in the city where I currently live, Lyon in France) and the hard work from all the CoMaps contributors to put all the bricks together!
I'm wondering if it could be possible to have additional layers of data for public transportation. Right now, only subways are shown, but in Lyon, trams are important too and so are buses. Is it possible to add "light rail" to the subway layer and if so, how?

@AKernelPanic super interesting, thanks for sharing!
Do you know if there is any plan to support multiple versions of Ubuntu? For instance, the page about "audio on Ubuntu" might differ if you're talking about 22.04 or 26.04... same for gaming, 3rd party software, etc.
(I know I should ask in Discourse but I don't have access to my computer right now...)

@tut_tuuut Dur à lire, en effet.
"I traveled too much. Conference culture in the 2010s was relentless, and I was in the thick of it. I keynoted, I spoke, I attended, I networked."
J'ai assisté à se conf à PyCon Taiwan en 2015, j'imagine pas le nombre de confs qu'il a données durant ces années...

@ploum now that I'm back living in France, living without a Google or Apple smartphone is impossible. My French ID card is "certified" on my smartphone, my banks require my smartphone to validate any operations, etc.
How do you do?

I have a Pixel phone with GrapheneOS on it, it's fine, but the topic of this thread is getting rid of your smartphone.

RightsCon Cancelled Due to Chinese Pressure Over Taiwan’s Participation
“RightsCon previously took place in Taiwan in 2025 (…) Although that RightsCon was held in Taiwan is not entirely surprising, considering the deteriorating human rights outlook in many parts of Asia, while the human rights situation in Taiwan has remained relatively unchanged.”
On the Mastodon default website, it's possible to hide boosts from the timeline. How to do the same from the official Android app ?
