Kudos to the #MiamiHerald journalist who happened to capture the video, but the most chilling sentence In the narrators exposition is almost glossed over, so I emphasize it here,
"The Miami Herald said they could not locate the woman after this video was taken"

@nixCraft In the 50's & 60's, when Programming™ was invented (Lady Lovelace notwithstanding), the primary observation to come out of the experience was that 1/3rd of the time was spend coding, and 2/3rds of the time spent debugging.
Now, with LLMs, you can spend 3/3rds of the time debugging! :D

Meta, LinkedIn, Xhitter, BSky are giant trees, users (the leaves) send their nutrients (data) to the (billionaire owned) trunk.
#Fedi is a slow-growth forest of interconnected plants all sharing with each other.
And this is hardest to convey, #fedi isn't for people looking for audiences, or influencers, or "engagement". #fedi is for building a social network of relationships and interaction.

Those giant centralized trees, the users are just leaves, feeding their sunlight and nutrients to a billionaire trunk that would just as soon shed them all.
#Fedi is a slow growth forest, lots of different sizes and types of plants, all networking with their neighbors.
Growth isn't the point, connection and meaningful exchanges are the point.
A forest also takes a lot longer to grow than a single tree.

I generally fly in Star Citizen alone, BUT it is a lot more fun if you have a couple people to fly with. You can spend the whole time exploring or cargo hauling/mining/salvaging.
As they say though, hell is other people.. So there's no escaping combat if you're descended upon. Definitely better chances to survive encounters if you're not flying alone.

Not, "do I have access to my data", but "where are the bits physically".
I'd like to think making people think about their data in its physical form makes it easier for people to realize how much control over themselves they're giving away.
I wish I was better at communicating this because it should be important to them.
Local-first software design principles should be some kinda law.
