My country is run by vain fragile men. Let's review:
- The President is so vain, he can be bribed with gold trinkets large and small. The FIFA Medal of Peace. Qatar's "new" Air Force One.
- The Secretary of Defense has a makeup studio IN HIS OFFICE yet removed women and people of color from the promotion list, and worships at the knee of a pastor who doesn't think women should vote.
- Elon Musk is so racist and fragile he wants to create a "historically accurate" movie about a WORK OF FICTION.
- Steven Miller thinks leftists are unattractive yet has somehow never once looked in a mirror at his Young Uncle Fester looking face.
People voted for this. People worship Elon. They hold signs and go to rallies supporting these assholes. I try not to hate anyone, but I hate them. I hate them more than I've ever hated anyone or anything in my entire life. They are so transparently weak, so fragile and incapable of handling dissent or opinions other than the ones that reflect back their own that I just don't see how people accept them as anything other than wretched and disgusting.
Racists, homophobes, transphobes, sexists, xenophobes... they're all scared. They say they believe in competition, but look at what they do. Every chance they get to create a level playing field, they tilt it in their favor. They're weak and terrified someone will tell them to their face.

I am not feeling the most productive right now because I shipped a BIG THING I WORKED BIG EFFORT ON, so I am amusing myself with @beep@follow.ethanmarcotte.com's very fine images. You may also want to amuse yourself with Ethan's very fine images: https://bukk.it/?C=M;O=D - don't be productive; be amused. #FuckProductivity #BeAmused #AltTextIsCool
Ummm, I think this place has radicalized me. I just went on an epic rant about "legacy social media" in a thread on the work Slack. Way to go, Fediverse, you magnificent bastards.
I boosted this a minute ago, but this is why the fediverse is the best. This is the nerdiest, funniest, and most informative rant/thread/comedic essay you will ever read about solar power. It’s the best!
I said "dagnabbit" in Slack just now in an answer to a very serious question and then used a gif of Yosemite Sam, LIKE A GODDAMN PROFESSIONAL. Dear God, it is SO very Friday at almost 5 o'clock.
I'm thinking about how to have a single static site that's an archive of EVERYTHING (34k old tweets, 3k+ mastodon posts, 7k public Flickr photos, 2.5k blog posts) that doesn't take forever to compile and thought of git submodules.
And then I stopped thinking about it.
Hell, I want to be the reason any authority figures gives up and starts wearing crocs all the time.
I blogged because it's almost halfway through 2026 and I figured it was time to check in on my intentions for the year: https://lawver.net/2026/05/how-is-2026-going-anyway/
My wife and I are watching Bodies on Netflix, and someone says “as I live and wheeze,” and I am 100% stealing it.
Also, we’re only on episode four. I like it so far. Very mystery. Much wondering. Wow. :confused_dog:
What’s in the overlap in the Venn diagram of Radical Acceptance and Malicious Compliance?
In other news, I am writing a love story about OAuth: "When a client and server love each other very much, they ask a user for a grant, and then the client asks the server to exchange a code for a token... and y'all, that's LOVE."
Today's artist is... INXS, maybe Australia's greatest musical export: https://www.crucialtracks.org/profile/kpl/20260529
Kevin's Crucial Track June 5, 2026: "Deadly Valentine" by Charlotte Gainsbourg
Today is the last day of France Week and I picked an artist I don't know very well, Charlotte Gainsbourg (well, other than this song, which has been on a _bunch_ of playlists because it's awesome). #CrucialTracks

I don't know why I thought of it, but I remembered that this was a thing today and got a little nostalgic: https://barackobamaisyournewbicycle.com
My favorite comment to leave when I approve a PR is "SHIP IT". When I'm tired, I spoonerize it and it sometimes becomes "SHIT IP" which is not what I mean at all.
No new artist today, so you get more Air! This song is practically a lullaby, in the best way: https://www.crucialtracks.org/profile/kpl/20260528
