@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social it feels like the equivalent to hand-holding. A decade ago when I first tried to mentor someone, I noticed that offering quick replies to problems they could figure out on their own, made them stop thinking.
Ignoring them for 15-30 minutes before replying usually resulted in a:
"never mind, I figured it out".
Feels the same when using Copilot. I tend to disable it.

It was a matter of "when". And that "when" is now. I am more worried about future generations leaning too much on AI, or worse yet, a whole generation skipping IT due to the toxic nature of the AI crowd.
But the industry will endure. On-prem will always be a must for universities, governments, telcos, etc.

GARM v0.2.0 has been released!
This release is a major update of GARM and adds:

@Gina nothing will stop kids from building their own networks using their own laptops, PCs, perhaps the family NAS, etc. Back in the 90s, before the internet was a thing, we built large neighborhood LANs. Why do people think kids will just say: "ahh....well....that sure showed us....!"
If parents want to protect their kids, we need to educate our kids better, not make them submit their IDs somewhere. There have been parental controls for a long time.

But things that have been explained already that just need to be put together to form a solution, I tend to leave them to it for a while before asking some guiding questions. And eventually help unblock if they are still stuck.

@paulknightly@mstdn.social I've had a similar experience. My state of mind improved significantly after ditching Facebook and Twitter. My screen time has fallen drastically. I still browse the fediverse daily, but much less than I used to doomscroll the other two.
The fediverse (at least in my bubble) has been devoid of drama and state sponsored bots pushing all kinds of nasty rhetoric. Looking back at the other platforms, they seem hostile and addictive.

@carnage4life@mas.to I don't know, mate. I use Claude. And it can be such a foot gun. It should be a tool you can use after you know what you are doing. It can one shot things sometimes, but a lot of times you need to be careful because it generates the dumbest things. It works, but it's brittle. Unless you're doing a PoC, that's dangerous. And if you don't know what you're doing, it will lead to bad things. This feels like a disaster waiting to happen driven by greed.
