I guess overhearing this kind of conversation only happens in The Hague (in Dutch):
❝Oh yes, the T_h ligature – it’s such an Adobe invention❞
I’m not a fan of it, and I held that same opinion for a long time – but I’ve also seen it in older fonts (which is what I communicated to those KABK students after chatting them up 😆)

@keyboards @jamesholden That’s the keyboard for the Morisawa MK-300 typesetting system. I just looked at photos of it today!

@Aurora_Bee@deadinsi.de @kai@typo.social The money “saved” is an expense that’s transferred to travelers in a pinch. Who benefits? Uber.
Uber rates: 70€ from Leiden to Schiphol last night, another 70€ from Amsterdam-Zuid to Schiphol this morning.
Can’t speak of “robbery in broad daylight” because the sun wasn’t up in either of those moments.

@johnbutler@typo.social @db@typo.social I am reading the article on Source Serif, which is a subject I’m intimately familiar with. While the Groki-article is much more in-depth, there’s just a lot of fluff, and stuff that would rightfully receive a [citation needed] on Wikipedia.
I know some Wikipedia articles are sparse, but I’d rather read about the essence of a subject than marketing-like copy which just takes a lot of time and energy.

@justvanrossum @mathieureguer I’m curious about that as well. Which PDF viewers?
Perhaps it has to do with the Type flag (embedding bit)?
In my mind, all production/final and design/friendly names should be arbitrary – what matters is the cmap and features.

@kentlew@typo.social I’ve made good experiences with enzymatic (“oxy”) detergents. In a bucket with water, agitate occasionally. After some hours, wash as normal. White T-shirts restored!

@kupfers@mastodon.social I was surprised to learn that calling other countries isn’t that easy from the US.
To call a German number, (for example +49 228 91650), you have to dial 011 (escape code) 49 (country code) 228 (city) 91650 (number).
