My husband and I will be celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary this year and one of our oldest traditions is buying discounted chocolate at the pharmacy the day after St. Valentine’s Day 😃
Boats on a stormy day in Paspébiac, Quebec several summers ago.
This part of Quebec was settled by Acadians, French Canadians but also merchants and fishermen from Jersey. My grandmother was a Jersey Luce and some Luces eventually settled on the other side of Baie des Chaleurs in Miscou and Shippegan.
If you visit Paspébiac today you can still eat fresh, locally caught lobster and visit the original fish plants of Charles Robin and Company 😃

This is my second Cobble Hill puzzle and once again I really enjoyed the graphics and the irregular cut of the pieces.
The puzzle is called « Vintage Tins » and it’s really made me want to collect the real thing. But the last thing I need is another collection 🤣

@holger@mastodon.de This is a very common style everywhere I visit in northern Italy including this one in Milano’s Piazza del Duomo. It always reminds me of music like Vivaldi’s - a basic pattern and then the different variations.

I came across this mercato during a stroll through part of Naples’ historic district Pendino.
I always love to see a living city up against layers of buildings from older periods.
Of the European cities I’ve visited Naples is probably the one with the liveliest street life 😃

February the 28th, Chateauguay (Montreal), The view out my window.
Just shy of 15 degrees Celsius for the 2nd day in a row and not a speck of snow left in my backyard - just a little melting slush at one end of my pond.
Usual temperature in February = maximum -1 degree Celsius
I was lucky enough to visit Cairo’s old Christian and Jewish quarters.I found a lovely series of contemporary mosaics in a courtyard in front of the famous Coptic Hanging Church.
I haven’t found information about this specific mosaic yet and I’m not familiar with Coptic iconography so I’m not sure who this depicts. That looks like a halo but there’s a cross on his forehead so I don’t think that would be Jesus. Perhaps a Coptic saint?
Canadians - this is a really cool CBC webpage where you can input the first part of your postal code and it gives you a lot of weather info about today but more interestingly, it lets you know how your temperature, precipitation and forest fires relateto historical data.

There’s such an amazing amount of well written and thoughtful work on the internet and about a year ago I found a great resource to widen my reading and introduce me to some new magazines I’d never have found on my own.
“Longreads” is a curated collection of articles from a variety of perspectives. They have collections built around quirky themes like “Cryptids” as well as topics like gardening and each week there’s a “Top Picks of the Week”.

This is Peter (also Simon) who was first among the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. It includes a symbol associated only with him - two keys. The keys are a reference to this passage -
Jesus said, “I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Mt 16:19).”
