@KaCi @autistics I really struggle with approaching people. When people have approached me, it generally goes well. But even when I muster up the courage to reach out to someone else, they just don't respond in a way that lets me believe they are interested in connecting. So I can put a lot of effort into people who don't seem inclined to reciprocate, or I can have nothing.

@JoscelynTransient @faithisleaping I always think of it as visibility is necessary, but that doesn't mean everyone needs to be always loudly visible. If we build a world where trans visibility is safe, you can guarantee there will be trans people who chose visibility because there are those who do it even when it isn't safe. So rather than try to shame people into being more visible than they are comfortable being, why not work to bring that world about?

It feels weird to me, too. I can find poly groups, but they are mostly straight. (Not necessarily entirely full of exclusively straight people, but very culturally straight.) And it seems like everyone I see in queer spacess who is trying to date complains about how they can't find anyone monogamous 🤷♀️
I guess it is not really worth favoriting toots while there is no notification going to the author. Perhaps I should just start responding "This is my favorite toot" instead

@SymTrkl @JoscelynTransient _I_ talk about the West, though I might be inclined to put Denver in the Rocky Mountain region. But even the classical Midwest is so varied in terms of culture, climate, economics, etc, that it is hard for me to see it as a singular region. Like, if you are going to include Ohio, Kansas, Minnesota, what do they really have in common?
(Other regions have similar divides, for example, the Pacific Northwest east vs west of the Cascades, but at least they are mostly divides within a state.)

@PastaThief @oldladyplays My kids have been into The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C Wrede lately, and dragon gender works that way in those books. (It seems like it may even include some physical sex aspects.) No wonder I liked those books so much as a kid 🤭

@what When I was in my twenties, I was kind of obsessed with women wearing cargo pants or similar, in a way that was very clearly wishing I could look like that. Of course, I could wear cargo pants, but i wouldn't get that look because it was more about the shape of the underlying hips and butt. Also, yes, hoodies with thumb holes.

2021 - said out loud that I was trans and started transition (what I chose)
Somewhere in between, I think it became clear to me that I probably was trans, but I don't know when, and there was always some part of me that clung to denial and avoidance.
I've been thinking about this recently because the fifth anniversary is coming up
