because it might not be bigotry, but simply a culture clash. if you are just ambushing the candidate with that kind of setup, you could just as easily say you are ruling out people raised in a strong patriarchic culture too. you _might_ be inclined to just say "good to rule that out" but that's its own discrimination against origin.
...now, if the interview guidance given to the candidate in advance says something like "we conduct interviews in panels and the candidate is expected to address their answer to the person posing the question" then what I said above doesn't apply.

did you see the protests at Collins' office? I only have a paywalled link but the picture is worth a 1,000 words https://www.pressherald.com/2026/07/13/protestors-storm-susan-collins-biddeford-office-after-federal-agent-shot-man/

@inthehands@hachyderm.io @Floppy@mastodon.me.uk I read the replies, and there's a lot of enthusiasm from people who understand the kinds of pitfalls that interfere with sustaining it, I think it might work.
sadly Rails is outside my own expertise, so I can only boost and link to friends and cheer from sidelines

@GhostOnTheHalfShell@masto.ai @gilduran@journa.host I agree they are different cohorts of people, but they are trying to capture aspects of modern society. sometimes they each think they are using the other to that end.
more generally, since you both know that, others who read this exchange should be aware of it

@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online I was thinking about incumbents in the RHS column, and especially the CA senators.
IIRC, Chris Murphy has the virtue of honesty when it comes to the practicality of being a Senator. didn't he admit the 2024 outcome had to do with fundraising? anyhow, I'd guess he would have the most support.
other corrections:
Platner has withdrawn
Fetterman might flip so he's as unknown as Talerico.
it's Sherrod Brown (with an e not an a)

@grammargirl@zirk.us like when medical people call someone "confused", AI "hallucination" is a more precise term than common parlance. it basically means the bot couldn't find a plausible answer and is for some reason blocked from saying "I don't know", so it makes stuff up.
that's a bit different from "confidently makes mistakes" becuase it's "confidently making stuff up entirely".
I have no idea what would be a good replacement for "hallucinate" in this context, I agree that it feels deceptive as is though.

@_the_cloud@mastodon.social @evacide@hachyderm.io (off topic) sad to see Robert Reich at No. 4 when zero of his posts use alt text
(on topic) I read a long form post by Anil Dash not too long ago about how many users, especially on Fedi, seem to dehumanize accounts with high follower counts, basically treating them as interactive entertainment instead of as actual people. Perhaps that contributes to your experience.

i kinda wish ...
...that we could make a list in Mastodon, of accounts to display in a time line, that was NOT also included in default "home" feed
...that we could set such a list to correspond to a collection
...the reverse: that we could define a collection based on a list
right now lists aren't helpful, if you follow someone they are right there in the timeline so why do they need to be in a list? but I'd like to have lists of more accounts to look at, just ... not have them take over default timeline

most of what I looked at also wanted copilot.

@sundogplanets@mastodon.social still do not understand how this is useful for anything at all, it will just be a big bright military target
if it's even mildly viable, why not stick with powersats that beam microwaves to designated receivers, from much higher orbit?

@MissConstrue@mefi.social so that seems like a big violation of consent, for sure, and I am unhappy to see the UC with this contract. But stating these corpses were there to train military how to shoot a human is a big leap from the article contents which says they are being used to train medics.
it's bad enough as is; please don't distort what's happening, that gives, er, opposite-minded people fuel to dismiss our entire stance on the unethical behavior from a public institution.

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange the people in the industry take a statement of best practice for any given _thing_ as a behavior to embrace and the justification for said best practice as a problem to be solved, instead of the best practice as a solution.

In March, a judge ultimately sided with Unknown Worlds, giving the studio control of the game, its future, and reinstating the fired CEO. The court also extended the time the studio had to earn its bonus payment of $250 million, and with the game selling so well, it seems very, very likely that Krafton is going to be forced to pull out its checkbook and pay up.
